Werewolves have lived in this little Minnesota town for centuries, unknown and hence not bothered by the humans nearby. The werewolves keep to themselves, associating only with their pack in the woods and never venturing too close to the humans for fear of being discovered. It's simple. The humans wouldn't know it if they saw a werewolf in its human form anyways- They're just too naive to see anything more than another person on this Earth. Sure, they've seen wolves in the woods on occasion. Of course there would be wolves in a snowy forest, it's not uncommon, especially in Minnesota. The humans don't make anything special of it, and the werewolves quickly retreat when seeing a human. There have been few problems in the past, those that do pop up being resolved immediately. The pack is at peace. But not all wolves listen to their pack.

Not all wolves follow the rules.

Not all humans stay away from the woods.

Lucinda was born in Nova Gorcia, Slovenia, to a French father and Slovene mother. She was raised there until the age of 7 when her parents decided to emigrate to Minnesota, America. Because she grew up speaking fluent French and Slovenian, Luci didn't learn English until she moved to America. She speaks with mostly an American accent, but does say a few words with a bit of a French-Slovenian sound. Luci is an only child, but when she lived in Slovenia she lived with her many cousins, so she kind of knows what siblings are like. Back in Slovenia she was always surrounded by family members and friends, so when she moved it messed her up for a few years. Her parents had no family in Minnesota and they only spoke broken English, leading Luci to have to pick up the slack and quickly learn the new language. Nevertheless, she excelled in school and graduated with a 4.2 GPA. She got accepted to Princeton University and spent the first two years of college there, but when her mother fell ill she transferred to the local state college to help care for her. Now Luci's spending her days in a little apartment she rents, taking her classes with feigned interest and silently praying that something exciting will happen in her life.

Luci comes off as a sweet, goody two-shoes, 'miss nice girl' type. Honestly, it's not wrong. Luci is sweet. Luci is a bit of a goody two-shoes at times. She's got a heart of gold and wouldn't think twice about helping someone. She puts others before herself. But that's not her entirely how she is. Luci craves adventure. She loves stepping out of her comfort zone and experiencing new things. She's quite silly, too. Her sarcastic comments are almost legendary and she can make a joke out of almost anything. But with all the good comes some bad. Luci's too stubborn for her own good and hardly listens to advice. She's extremely persistent and if she wants to know something, she'll find a way to get what she wants. Also, Luci has a bad habit of accidentally being insensitive. She's not sure why, but it kind of just... happens. It's not like she means it, because Luci would never intentionally offend someone unless she really dislikes you.

Besides personality, there's many things that Luci likes and doesn't like to do. Luci loves to go on walks through the woods to clear her mind, so some would say she's a bit of a loner at times. Luci would just tell you that everyone needs time to themselves. She also loves to paint, and she's definitely got a natural talent for it. Her paintings range from realistic portraits to abstract shapes, but most of her paintings are breathtaking landscapes. Luci finds enjoyment in reading, but she doesn't read a whole lot. She also likes to bake and she's gotten quite good at it- Her chocolate chip cookies and banana nut muffins are to die for. On a more romance-y note, Luci loves to cuddle. She doesn't like to admit it to people, though, so you'd never know. There's things Luci doesn't like to do, either. For example, she doesn't like going to the beach very much because she hates hot weather. She doesn't enjoy playing sports, except for running and soccer. She hates most museums, although she loves art ones. There's also things she's afraid of. Luci is absolutely terrified of large thunderstorms, elevators, wax figures and paranormal activity (mostly watching it on TV).

the woods :: 1x1 RP for Atlas and Imagine- :) 14b0qi1
Luci is heterosexual and has only had a few serious boyfriends. She doesn't really like to talk about her past relationships. It's not that they were exceptionally bad, she just doesn't really like to harp on them. Luci likes someone who she can joke with, someone who will actually take the time to get to know her because a lot of people don't. She doesn't expect much from a boyfriend. She's not demanding- If Luci loves you, then she'll treat you like you're the sun and the stars. Currently, Luci is exploring her newfound relationship with Judd after all that they've been through. She undeniably loves him, and their mutual feelings are a step in the right direction.

HistoryJudd's history is brief and not very out of the ordinary. Well, other than being a werewolf of course. His parents were quite wealthy and he had a comfortable lifestyle. As a child, he enjoyed playing many sports and drawing. As he entered high school, his talents on the baseball and track field were very apparent. When he was younger, he loved these sports with all his heart. However, as he got into high school, he found himself less and less interested in these activities. His sports friends thought he was crazy. He insisted though, that he was just feeling burnt out. So, by his senior year, he quit all sports activities. His parents and teammates were disappointed in him, but Judd couldn't care less.

His interests fell more into art, and he was often out in the woods. He often drew very abstract things, and he drew inspiration from the forests. One day, while he was absentmindedly sketching, he heard a rustle in the bushes. Out of nowhere, a large wolf came charging at him. It gave him a quick nip in the neck, and then went on its way. he fell down to the ground in pain. He was lucky though, that the wound wasn't deep. He brushed it off lightly. It was probably just some dog that he had pissed off. He covered up the bite with a bandage, and went on his way.

The next few weeks, strange things began happening. At night, he went through immense pain. His nose became more sensitive, and he felt like he was becoming stronger. He let out certain yelps when he fell, and he felt attracted to the moon. One day, when one of his baseball friends kept badgering him, Judd turned around with s snarl and transformed into a wolf. His friend ran away, terrified. Judd was startled too; what had he become? After a few days though, he grew to love his wolfish appearance. He left a letter for his family, stating how much he loved them, but that he needed to start his own life. He keeps in touch with them every so often, but tells them nothing of his new life, or location. He has been finishing up his senior year of high school online, and he studies in his spare time. Even though it conflicts with his fun-loving attitude, he wants to accomplish graduating high school, and maybe even college later. Well, that is once he's had enough fun with the other werewolves.

➶Judd➶

The answer that Luci had given him wasn't exactly the one he'd been looking for. However, he was able to easily hide his disappointment, and enjoy the rest of the day with Luci. She said she cared for him though -- that counted for something, right? Despite their awkward position, Judd had continued to spend the rest of his time with Luci. He craved to be around her; every time they were together, it was as if fire works were exploding in his heart. He felt elated and jubilant, ecstatic and infinite. No matter what Luci was to him, whether a friend with benefits, a lover, or just a friend, he craved her presence. She made him feel like no one else had ever made him feel, simply put. His wolf had been out of control, lusty and desiring more touches, more intimate scenes. Sometimes he controlled his urges, sometimes he didn't. They kissed some, but all of their time wasn't taken up by that. They talked too, goofed, and teased. Sometimes, they just sat in silence, each enjoying the other's company. It didn't matter where they were, or what they were doing. Whether they were hanging at Luci's, watching a movie, or just sitting outside. She was with him, and that's all that mattered.

During their frequent time with each other the past two weeks, Judd had become uncaring and reckless with his situation. He had developed the position that the alpha could fuck himself, and he no longer cared about taking care of his duties. He was no longer careful covering up Luci's scent, or his tracks. He simply just left whenever he pleased, much to the rage of the alpha. He'd gotten a few good punches, threats, and punishments for that, but nothing quelled his desire to see Luci. Unbeknownst to him, though, they were watching carefully. His alpha had sent out spies, trailing Judd's scent and observing his actions. When he went into town, it was more difficult for the werewolf spies to remain unseen. When they were in the woods, however, the wolves were able to take over their dominion. Plentiful cracks and crevices were in the forest, perfect for spying and laying low. Judd was being absolutely stupid, and he knew it. He didn't care, though. What could possibly go wrong? He was putting himself in danger, he knew, but he was completely unaware that others could suffer form his actions.

It was late at night, a bit too late. Judd had been over at Luci's for a while, just hanging out and watching t.v. However, after only a few minutes, the t.v. was pretty much forgotten as the two bantered and gabbled. When the clock struck midnight, though, he'd known he'd worn out his welcome. Despite the protests of Luci, he had left, knowing that he needed to get home. He hated to return to his life of drudgery, but he knew it was essential. The alpha's temper was running short lately, and although he usually didn't give a flying fuck, he knew he needed to at least come home. Plus, Skylar was waiting for him, often worried and anxious of his whereabouts. he hated lying to his own sister, but it needed to be done. He knew she probably suspected something between him and Luci, but Judd just couldn't bring himself to say it. The young man sauntered through the woods, a light bounce in his step. His optimism seemed unquenched as he strode through the woods, his heart pumping with every step. He felt electrified, awake, and euphoric, a common side effect that he got whenever he was with Luci. They had planned to meet again the next day, once she got off of her work. Already, the young man was counting down the minutes and seconds before he saw her face again. In his enlightened state, he didn't even realize the dark figures that were dwelling in the dark.

A hard strike sent Judd tumbling back, the other object like a brick wall, unaffected. He stumbled back a few steps, and glared up in anger. Who dare get in his way? "Who's there?" he snarled, feeling too daring for his own good. He was met with silence, only increasing his agitation. As he took a step forward to meet the shadowed figure, they reciprocated. Just perfectly, the moon was uncovered by the eerie January clouds, its light shimmering down in the forest below. When the light flickered down, it revealed the figure's visage; it was none other than his alpha, Sade. Already, he felt his stomach drop. He was in major trouble; how would he explain the fore-coming injuries to Luci? "What do you want?" Judd growled, his voice deep and challenging. He would never be beat again.

"You know damn well Judd," Sade snarled back, the fearsome rage building up in his alpha. Even though Judd had a facade of confidence and bravery, he was truly terrified. His alpha was enraged, his pupils dilating and his iris' changing from black to red intermittently. Sade wasn't alone either. Although he couldn't see them, Judd could smell the scent of others. Like a coward, Sade had brought plenty of backup. "I'm cutting the shit, Judd. No need for pretenses," the alpha snarled, hellfire sparkling in his eyes. Judd would pay for what he'd done.

Dread was building up at this point in Judd's stomach. He knew the jig was up; they must have caught him. True enough, Sade continued,"You've broken one of our most sacred laws. You have been fraternizing with a human!" These last words broke out into a wolflike howl, one of rage and bloodthirsty. Judd flinched back, suddenly feeling the desire for fight or flight kick in. The air already smelled thick of blood; was that his imagination? In defiance, Judd forced himself to remain still, his teeth flashing and his face hard. Sade continued,"You are a disgrace to our pack! You have defiled everything we stand for, and that will not be tolerated."

Feeling a sudden flash of his old fighting spirt, Judd was able to bellow back,"Oh yeah? You can't do anything about it, you fucking coward! You are so full of shit!"

A cold, chilling smile made its way across the sadistic alpha's face. It possessed no warmth, only malice and evil intent. "Oh Judd," he tutted,"I already have."

Out of the darkness emerged one of Judd's packmates, concealed in the dark. They were carrying something, and Judd was unsure of what it was. Suddenly, it was thrown at his feet, creating a large thump upon the ground. Blood reeked in the air, and the scent of fear. As soon as it hit the ground, Judd knew what it was. Or who it was, rather. Slowly, with fear and adrenaline pounding through his body, Judd waited until the moonlight fell down again. Bathed in moonlight and blood lie his sister, looking grey and lifeless. A heartbreaking, inhuman howl made it out of Judd's moth as he saw her state. He dropped to his knees, the loss creeping in through his body. What had happened? His mind tried to asses the situation, but he couldn't. He was shocked, stunned, and overwhelmed. As he continued to wrench inhuman sounds of grief from his body, the assaulting, cold laughs of the others fell into his ears. There was no fighting to be done here. With all the strength he possessed, he gathered his lifeless sister in his arms, and fled.

He was unaware of where he was going, his body mindlessly rocketing through the forest. Branches slapped his cheeks, as if trying to wake him up from some nightmare. This was his fault; his sister was dead, or dying, because of him. He hadn't even checked to see if she was still breathing, and he wasn't sure if he even wanted to. While he ran, away from his life and everything he'd known, he tried to think about what to do. It was impossible, his brain reeling and his heart pounding. He had never been so fearful in his entire life. All that he thought of (besides the state of Skylar) was Luci. She was the only one to turn to, the only antidote to this poison. Yes, she could help. Somehow. His feet carried him to her house, making it there in record time. underneath the porch light, he stopped momentarily as he timidly looked down upon Skylar's face.

In the light of Luci's porch, Skylar's injuries were even more apparent, and grave-looking. Blood coated her entire body, smeared on her clothes, and now Judd's.  He'd never seen so much blood in his entire life, and it was still pumping out of the giant gashes and gorges in her body. It was evidently that they'd mauled her in their wolf form, teeth marks imprinted in her skin. Her face was completely grey, possessing no color at all. On her face, there were even more wounds, the most concerning of these lying causing a wrench in Judd's heart. A long, deep cut made its way down from her eyebrow to her cheek bone, not halting when it met her eyelid. It was so deep, Judd could nearly see her pale blue, caring eye beneath the skin of her eyelid. Her bones must have been broken as well, her wrists and ankles bent at odd, grotesque angles. Despite all of this, there was the very faint rise and fall of her chest. Somehow, she was still alive, but it wouldn't be for long. He could already sense her wolf was weak, and near death. Never before had he seen her so frail and damaged. Hell, though, any normal wolf would be in grave danger after this mauling. How had his weak sister even survived the torture?

"Luci!!!" he shrieked, banging his fists on her door. "Open the fucking door! Please, open the fucking door," he sobbed, tears sparkling on his eyes. He wasn't even aware of the tears as eh frantically beat at her door, trying to claw himself in. Truthfully, he had no idea if Luci could even help, let alone save his dying sister. however, he needed someone, and that someone was her. "Luci!" he screamed again, the icy cold fingers of death pricking upon his own neck. His own sister was dying in his arms, and it was all his fault.

Luci

The past two weeks or so had been a whirlwind of sorts. Luci and Judd had grown much closer, hanging out any time that Luci's busy schedule allowed. The pair mostly stayed at Luci's place, watching TV and playing games and even cuddling at times. Luci very much enjoyed Judd's presence, though they'd never actually established where they stood with one another. Naturally, both had assumed that they were more than friends considering that they kissed and whatnot, but they had nowhere near assumed a bona fide relationship status. Regardless, the girl liked it. Luci didn't feel as isolated anymore now that she had someone to regularly hang out with. Sure, Simon and Janie were her friends, but they mostly had a work/school relationship and didn't hang out much. Judd made the girl feel wanted, appreciated and most of all, he took away the stresses of her usually mundane life.

That night, Luci and Judd had been hanging out on Luci's couch. Initially they'd turned on the
TV, but within a few minutes they had started talking and teasing one another. It had been a nice, relaxing night after an exceptionally long biology exam on molecular chemistry that Luci had slaved over for the past few nights. Her hard work had paid off, though, as she believed that she had done quite well on the exam. Before Judd had even realized, the clock had struck midnight and he was getting ready to leave. Of course Luci protested at first, but soon relented when a massive yawn escaped her. She'd most likely see Judd tomorrow or the next day, anyways. She made sure to give him a chaste kiss on the cheek before he ventured off into the cold night, whispering that she'd see him soon. The moment her front door shut, Luci flicked off the TV and dragged herself to her bed, plopping down immediately. Sleep soon overtook the girl and she drifted off into a sound rest.

What felt like only minutes later, Luci was shocked awake by a loud wailing noise. It sounded like screaming, and for a moment the girl pulled her blanket over her head and turned over. The shouting and knocking persisted, though, forcing Luci to sit up and walk into the living room. The sounds were discernible, but they sounded panicked and desperate. Shuffling as quickly as she could, Luci yanked the door open and was about to yell at the perpetrator before she actually looked to see who it was. Under the porch light stood a panicked, bloody Judd holding an even bloodier something in his arms. Luci's tired eyes immediately shot open, all of the weariness rushing out of her body. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She asked, not waiting for an answer as she pulled him into her home. Luci ran to her closet and grabbed a few old towels, rushing back and laying them on the floor. Then she turned back to Judd with a very cool expression, trying to remain calm. She gently took the mangled figure into her arms to place it on the floor. When the figure was overturned, the girl caught a glimpse of blonde hair and fair skin. With a gasp, Luci crouched down and began gently maneuvering the body, closing her eyes. "Judd... Is this your sister?" She asked, though it was apparent what the answer was. With a pale face, Luci began taking an extra towel and blotting any of the wounds that were still bleeding. "What the f*ck were you thinking taking her here?! She needs to go the hospital! Her skin is torn down to the bone and I'm pretty sure those are puncture marks on her arms and throat. How the hell did this happen?" Not waiting for a response, the girl got up and ran to her bathroom, pulling out her dingy first aid kit- It wouldn't do much but anything could help.

Rushing back, Luci dropped the kit and tore it open, leafing through it's contents. A small bottle of neosporin was the first thing Luci's hand grasped and she popped it open as her hands shook. "This might sting," she mumbled to Skylar, though it made no difference as the girl was clearly unconscious. Luci began applying the cream to the largest of wounds, knowing that the whole bottle would be wasted on one. After the contents were completely empty, Luci placed the bottle down and talked to Judd while still working. "Go get me my phone off of the desk in my room- I need to call someone," Luci instructed, voice strong. She continued to bandage Skylar's largest arm wound with gauze retrieved from the first aid kit. Once Judd gave her the phone, Luci scrolled through her contacts and tapped on a familiar number. Securing the phone between her ear and shoulder, Luci pinched the bridge of her nose with her free hand. "Please pick up... please pick up..." she mumbled to herself, practically eating her own lip.

A voice cracked on the other end of the phone and Luci jumped. "Simon, I know it's late but I need your help. Like right now, yeah. My friend's sister is majorly hurt and I don't know what to do. We can't get her to the hospital. I already put some stuff on her largest wound but it's already bleeding through the gauze." Luci was silent as Simon talked back. Luci almost forgot that Judd was there because she was so absorbed in the problem. "Yeah, okay," Luci affirmed as she reached for another towel and began to wrap it around Skylar's calf. The bleeding had naturally slowed but the wound was still bright red. Once the towel was wrapped, the girl grabbed another one and began blotting Skylar's head, where a long gash etched the side of her face. Blood soaked through as if it had been a tissue, causing Luci to grunt. "Sim, her face is bleedin' straight through," the girl reported, looking up at Judd with a worried look. Nodding at what Simon said, Luci responded with a few grunts and shifted the unconscious girl's head so that the gash was facing fully up. "He said this will help stop the rushed flow of bleeding," Luci recounted to Judd, trying to assure herself.

The wound continued to spill blood so Luci placed another towel on it, then turned to Judd and assigned him with another task. "Judd, go grab a bucket from the closet and fill it with water, then bring an empty bucket here too," she demanded as she took the bloodied towels to her washing machine, throwing them in haphazardly. While Judd got the water, Luci conferred with Simon. Thank God he was a nursing major so he knew all of the in depth medical procedures. He'd asked why they couldn't take the girl to the hospital, and Luci had floundered for an explanation. She honestly didn't know why, either, but she guessed and said that it was monetary issues. Judd came back with the water and Luci dipped the towels in, using them to wipe the dried blood off of Skylar's body. With the excess removed she looked much cleaner, but the wounds were much more visible in her skin. Puncture marks covered every few inches of open flesh and lacerations sliced her skin. Biting her lip, Luci groaned. "Alright, Simon, I can take it from here. She's got a sh*t ton of cuts and slices and gashes but they're not bleeding a whole lot anymore. I know what to do... Thanks. Yeah, I'll see you at class. Alright, thanks again," she sighed before hanging up and tossing her phone to the couch.

Standing up and turning to Judd, Luci embraced him in a brief hug before letting go and looking at him with a quizzical expression. "What the hell happened to Skylar?" She asked again. "Those wounds look like she was attacked by a wild animal, and she's definitely got broken bones. Sorry I took full charge, I usually work better when I can think to myself." Turning to Skylar, the girl sighed. "Honestly, Judd, there's not much else I can do. We'll have to leave her on the floor until morning at least. I'll replace the towels in a few hours so they don't fester and the smaller wounds can scab over and start fully bruising. She's definitely screwed up though, Judd..." Luci whispered the last part, averting her eyes to the floor. "What made you bring her to me? I'm no doctor. She really belongs in a hospital... You're luck that Simon knows how to handle this kind of stuff." Sighing, the girl felt a wave of weariness come over her and she drooped her head. "I'm assuming you're staying the night, so you can crash on the couch if you're gonna sleep. I'm sorry I couldn't help a whole lot, but I did my best," Luci tried with a yawn, rubbing her eyes. This whole situation felt like she was dreaming, but the blood under her nails and the stains on Judd's shirt made it wholly real.

Judd

It felt like hours, yet it was only mere seconds until Luci opened the barricade that separated them. Her face was one of shock as she exclaimed her worry and confusion. However, she waited for no answer, and Judd gave none. Instead, she quickly took action, ushering him inside, with his mangled sister. He could barely think, his mind flying at a thousand worries per second. The sight of his destroyed sister was something he could barley even look at, with all of the blood completely concealing her face. She was so bloody, in fact, that even Luci didn't recognize her at first. "Yes, it's her," he affirmed, his voice shaking in fear and shame. Luci came back hurriedly, with lots of towels to prevent the trail of blood from dripping any more on her floor. Gently, she helped him place down Skylar on the snow-white towels, that upon contact, immediately became soaked with her sticky blood. "Oh my god," he whimpered, bringing his face to his hands. Luci demanded to know why Skylar hadn't been taken to a hospital, and with a pang of guilt, Judd knew she was completely right. However, it was impossible, and risky to take her there. The doctors would quickly discover that there was more about her, that she wasn't completely human... And that was something neither of them could have. Although their country had greatly changed from the zealous Puritan society, there were still those religious nuts that would call them demons. If they weren't burned at the stake, they'd be taken into laboratories and research centers, never to see the light of day again. It killed Judd to deny his sister proper medical treatment, but what else could he do?

Tears were still coming down his face as he subconsciously wept. Even though Luci wasn't any sort of doctor, she seemed to spur into action. Judd couldn't cry or grieve for too long, as she quickly put him to work. While she applied gauze and Neosporin on Skylar's huge wounds, he shuffled mindlessly over to where she kept her phone. He hurried back and handed the phone to Luci, who quickly began to dial a number. She couldn't possibly be calling 911, could she? "Luci, you can't can't--," his voice was interrupted as she began to speak with someone else. The phone crackled in the air, and Judd's sharp ears caught the voice of a man. Simon, apparently? "Who the fuck is that?" Judd growled, crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes. Even in a situation like now, he felt some jealously. Was there another guy? However, he suddenly remembered Simon as the other guy that worked with Luci. Still, why was he a contact in her phone? Judd didn't object anymore, though because it seemed as if Luci was getting his help. She followed his instructions, blotting the cascade of blood that trailed down his sister's face. For once, Judd was glad she was unconscious; if she were to wake up now, she'd be in a world of pain. Still, though, it was utterly terrifying to see her so lifeless, so greyish and limp. What if she lost her life because of Judd's carelessness? He felt the silent, shaky sob rise and fall in his chest and shoulders, the tears never seizing.

No matter how many times Luci tried to blot the gory wounds, more blood rushed out to take its place. Luci admitted to her "friend" Simon that her face continued to soak through the once-white towel. The whole room was thick with the scent of blood, sickening and terrible. If Skylar were to survive, what would she look like after this? She had been beautiful before... Now what, with her most-likely disfigured face? No movements or signs of life were made from her as Luci continued to lift her arms to apply more towels and gauze. Judd was snapped from his anxieties as Luci commanded him to get a bucket of water, and off he went, feeling as if he weren't even walking. Time seemed to be slowed as he stumbled to her closet, rummaging through various items until he finally found some cleaning buckets. He made his way over to Luci's kitchen sink, his fingers fumbling with the water knobs. Until now, he hadn't noticed how much his entire body was shaking, as he tried to hold the bucket in place to collect the water. As soon as it was filled to the brim, Judd made his way back over to Luci and slowly handed her the buckets. "It's gonna be okay Skylar, just hang in there," he croaked, his voice rising and falling with each word. He hadn't cried in years, and now it seemed as if all the liquid in his body were tumbling out of his eyes.

Judd was so lucky that Luci had taken charge; if it hadn't been for her, he would have been at a loss of what to do. He kneeled helplessly beside Skylar as Luci began to apply the wet towels to Skylar's body. Finally, the blood flow seemed to stem. Unfortunately, with the reduced blood, Judd could now see the full extent of her injuries. Puncture wounds covered her body, and the ligaments and muscles were nearly visible. It filled him with a rage, red-hot and passionate hate, as he clenched his fists in anger. How dare they hurt his sister like this... He could tell they'd enjoyed it, with every tooth mark and claw. Finally, Luci ended her call with Simon and hung up the phone. Skylar still looked very bad off, but it was comforting to know that her blood flow had been stopped a bit. The dreaded question came, and Luci begged to know what had happened to his sister. The smart girl had quickly noticed the puncture wounds that could have only come from a wild animal. However, Judd couldn't tell her... He just couldn't, nor could he make up a lie. He refused to answer, and instead just sat in silence, the horror on his face apparent as he continued to stare at Skylar's lifeless face. "Th-that's fine Luci," Judd stuttered, as he felt his hand resting on her shoulder for support. "You.. saved her. Without you, she'd probably be dead right now," he admitted, as he turned away to wipe his wet cheeks. He hated that she'd seen him cry, but he still couldn't control his heavy emotions that coursed through him.

As he buried his head in his hands once again, he heard her voice, always intelligent and affirmative. "Yeah," he grunted, nodding his head as he tried to get a hold of himself. Now, the sudden realization of his life was crashing in. He had nowhere to go, no sort of home whatsoever. He hated that he'd come to Luci, dragging Skylar over and completely impeding on Luci's life. She was already stressed enough, with her school, job, and parents. Who was Judd to add more onto her plate? He wouldn't dare moving Skyalr yet, but maybe she would strong enough to be moved by morning? He'd hate to move his sister, who was in a precarious state of health, but he also hated to invade Luci's home. "We can go tomorrow, if you want," he murmured, wiping his face once more as he avoided eye contact with Luci. She looked exhausted, and she would most likely have trouble falling asleep after all of this. Personally, Judd knew he'd never get a wink of sleep. "You don't need to replace the towels, though... Go to sleep, I can manage that, at least." He felt completely useless. He was supposed to protect Skylar, to make sure she was healthy and happy. He'd failed, completely. In the past few weeks, she'd been miserable with worry for Judd. And now, this... He was a failure.

Luci asked him more questions that he hated to answer. However, she deserved something. "I took her here because... I had no idea where to go," he admitted slowly, his eyes falling onto on of the blood puddles on her carpet. "It's just.. You wouldn't understand. For several reasons, I can't take Skylar to the hospital, even though I wish I could. You were just the first person that I thought of. I know you don't have a medical degree, but I figured that you could help somehow. And you did. You were able to stop the bleeding, and I can't thank you enough," he murmured as Luci pressed into him for a short, comforting hug. He felt some of his worry and despair drain in the small hug. If only she had the power to save Skylar's life, too... "Like I said though," he grunted once they pulled away,"we can leave tomorrow. I know you have so many other things to think and worry about. You aren't a doctor, like you said, so your house isn't a hospital. I'm so sorry for bringing all of this on your shoulders, I just couldn't do it alone!" he admitted, another sob making its way out of his body as he pulled his knees to his chest, looking like a helpless infant.

However, he knew he couldn't keep on crying forever, especially with Luci around. He made his way to his trembling knees, and turned away from Luci. Taking a deep breath, he was able to semi-calmly,"I need to run out and grab some things. I wont be long. Skylar's inhaler probably got smashed, so I'm just going to pick that up, and some more gauze and Neosporin. I'll make it quick, so you can sleep. You're exhausted." There was something else he wanted to, something he needed. In the face of fear, he withered away to his temptations. The son of an alcoholic didn't fall far from the tree, and Judd needed something to calm his nerves. It disgusted him, but he needed it. "I'll be back," he grunted, and silently, he turned to the door, and walked out of the comforting warmth of Luci's home, and into the freezing, cruel world.

Skylar

The whole time, the poor girl had been completely unconscious. It was better, being in a world of darkness than a world of pain. Her wounds bled profusely, her breaths short and terse. She was dying, and completely unaware. She was oblivious to the sobs of her usually-strong brother, and the anxious attention of Luci. She laid immobile as the Neosporin was applied to her body, not even wincing as the cream stung her red, inflamed skin. Her wounds were determined to bleed, and her feet and hands remained twisted in their grotesque, unnatural positions. The torture had been indescribable, with the savage wolves ripping deep into her skin with their canines, tossing her around like a piece of meat. She'd been turned on, by her own kind, and she was suffering the consequences of a crime she never committed. She was like the innocent lamb, led to slaughter.

She couldn't evade the inevitable pain forever. Slowly, her brain connected to her body, receiving all of the messages of pain. That was the first thing she felt upon becoming conscious. After the pain remained fear. Although her eyes were shut she knew she was in an unfamiliar place. The scent of her brother was strong, yet she no longer heard his voice. Was he okay? This thought of fear stabbed into her heart, causing the girl to slowly and weakly flutter open her eyes. However, she received only half on the picture. On her left side, there was nothing, only darkness. Why couldn't she see anything out of her left eye? Now, her once beautiful pale blue eye was now a milky white, with a long, bright red gouge slicing its way through the middle of her eye. Her fear and extreme pain caused a pitifully weak whimper to come out of her body. Tears of pain were in her eyes, and soon were streaming down her bloody face, stinging her cheeks. However, she was still observant in her state of torture, and her eyes fell on her bandages, and the unfamiliar objects in the room. Her right eye wandered around the room, her left eye blindly following it, seeing nothing. It fell on Luci, who was kneeling beside her, looking exhausted, her hair messed and her hands bloody. Of course. Luci must have helped her...

Tears continued to tumble out of Skylar's eyes as her agony continued. She felt so weak, so close to death... She needed to speak to Luci, to thank her in case she were to slip away. She wanted Judd, her big brother and protector, but he was nowhere to be seen. Somehow, Skylar was able to open her mouth, but not without pain. Her weak voice, barley audible, whispered,"Luci... Thank you." The poor girl felt extremely light-headed, and she knew that what she needed to say must be said quickly. "I'm so sorry... to be such a burden," she weakly continued, her voice faltering and pausing, as she felt her strength ebbing. "I just... want you to promise me... something. If anything happens to me... Please take care of Judd. Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid... You know how he can be sometimes..." Her eyes felt heavy, and she just wanted to sleep to escape the pain. Her vision began to blur and she hastily pressed on,"Tell him that none of this was his fault, and I don't blame him. I love him," she whimpered as she continued to think of her loving brother. They'd had their fair share of sibling fights, but in the end, she couldn't have asked for a better brother. "Thank you again Luci... You're worth more than you know," she mumbled as she felt the caress of sleep and unconsciousness pull her back again.

Judd

If only he hadn't gotten that dammed drink. He'd caved picking up a bottle of whiskey from the bar as he made his way back to Luci's house. In his right hand was the bag of more gauze and asthma medication. In his left, was the damned liquor. He'd already made his way halfway through the bottle, and although he wasn't yet drunk he felt the tingling in his fingers. He opened the door to Luci's, stumbling into the warmth. Skylar was still motionless, looking pretty much the same. Unbeknownst to him, though, she had been conscious only moments before. If he hadn't gotten the drink, her words could have been addressed to him in person. However, he was morally weak, and couldn't abstain from the alcohol. Luci would no doubt be angry, but he couldn't help it. Setting down the bag next to Skylar's body, he murmured,"She's.. still alive, right?" However, the very faint rise and fall of her chest quelled his fears. Although most of her wounds had been dressed, the obvious broken bones still remained. "What do we do about her ankles and wrists? They're definitely broken, and god knows what else," he hissed, once again feeling the anger, yet only intensified by the alcohol. If Luci weren't present, he would have gone into a fit of rage. Instead, he was quiet, feeling as if his heart had been torn out of his body. If he could take Skylar's place, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

Luci

Luci placed her hand on Judd's shoulder, shushing him. "Hey, it's fine... if you need another day or two that's fine. Don't move Skylar if she'll only get more hurt. And of course I'll replace her towels- Clearly you need to relax and recuperate," instructed the girl. After a few moments of Judd's sniffling, he delved into the situation and explained everything as best as he could. Luci listened with a quizzical expression as to why he couldn't just take Skylar to the hospital, but she knew it wasn't her place to press any further. Otherwise, Luci just placed her hand on Judd's shoulder and sighed, "I tried my best- She's still hurt but at least she's not dead." Another sob escaped him and Luci frowned, wrapping her arms around him. "Hey... Sh, don't cry... Skylar's gonna be alright," the girl cooed, gently stroking his back. They sat like that for a little bit until Judd suddenly stood and headed for the door, telling Luci that he was going out to buy supplies. Not even bothering to answer, Luci picked herself up and immediately dropped herself on the couch, staring at the ceiling.

Luci's eyes were fluttering open and closed when she heard a faint murmur- How she managed to hear it was beyond her, but nevertheless her ears picked up the gentle sound. "Skylar?" Luci asked, pushing herself up to kneel down next to the broken girl. "Oh Skylar, you're no burden, don't say that!" Luci insisted, though she was interrupted by Skylar's whispering. She rambled on about taking care of Judd, watching out for him and telling him that nothing was his fault. Luci's face paled and she placed a hand on Skylar's shoulder. "You're not dying! Don't talk like that, you'll be fine! Please, stay with me until Judd gets back..." Luci begged, eyes widening. "Sky, come on!" The girl whispered about Luci being worth more than she knew before closing her eyes and disappearing once again. Falling silent, Luci closed her eyes and sighed, then moving to sit back on the couch. Her head fell on  one of the pillows and she slowly fell asleep, mind swirling with what Skylar had told her.

What felt like seconds later, she was awoken by the sound of her front door shutting. Luci slowly stood up and looked at Judd, eyes blurry still. "Hm?" She asked, rubbing her eyes. Once the question had processed, she nodded. "Mm, she's still alive," she told him, looking to the unconscious girl. "Actually, she woke up... She said that it's not your fault... I don't know what she meant but I'm assuming you do," Luci whispered, shrugging. "Her voice was really quiet, but at least she could talk. She was in a lot of pain, so being unconscious is almost better for her." Hopefully Judd wouldn't take that last part in the wrong way, but is was true. At least when Skylar was passed out she couldn't feel her pain. Placing her feet on the ground, she stood and walked towards Judd, addressing his other questions. "I-I don't know, honestly... I can't fix broken bones... We'll have to worry about that later. For now we just need to make sure she'll stay stable."

Luci placed her hand on Judd's shoulder to comfort him, but after a few moments her eyes grew dark. What was that smell? Luci knew what it was, but why was it here? She didn't keep alcohol- well, not Whiskey- in her house. Scowling, Luci sniffed the air again. Oh my god, was it Judd's breath? Had he gone out for a drink while he was gone? Luci's lips turned into a frown and she narrowed her eyes. "Judd... Did you get a drink while you were out?" Luci demanded, taking a step back. "You can't be serious, can you? You're sister's practically dying and you decided to get a drink?" Luci, though tired, had been riled up by this. "Give me the bottle," she commanded, looking him dead in the eyes. She knew Judd had a thing with drinking, but that needed to wait. She needed to help him so they could help Skylar. "Judd... I said give it to me. You can have it later but right now you need to sleep or watch over your sister." Luci's hazel eyes were stone cold, but underneath it she also had her usual kindness. Yes, she was mad that Judd had gone out and bought Whiskey. She needed his help and he was becoming incompetent. At the same time, a small part of Luci wanted to help him by taking the alcohol away. She knew that's how he dealt with his problems, and maybe she could try and stop it. "Look, I need you to help me care for your sister. That Whiskey isn't gonna solve any problems," Luci said sternly, hand outstretched. "Just give it to me."

Judd

He entered in like a storm cloud, angry, brooding, and dark. the room seemed laden with electricity, but it wasn't the pleasurable, sparking kind that he got from Luci's presence. It was dangerous and static, uncomfortable and anxious. Luci had awoken, the grumbling boy feeling the features on his face lighten slightly as he saw his best friend emerge from slumber. To tell the truth, he had been worried for her safety while he'd been out. With the brutal attack on his sister, who was to say that Luci would be safe? It would be a daring and overt move if his pack were to attack Luci, and although it was unlikely... The mere thought made the hair on the back of Judd's neck prickle. He couldn't protect Skylar, but he had to protect Luci.

Speaking of which, the poor girl looked exhausted. She must have just awoke, as she was rubbing her fist on her eyes. "Oh god, I woke you up. Sorry," Judd grunted, abashed and regretful. She needed to sleep, especially if she had to work or go to college the next day. Judd completely intruded upon her life, and he wished he hadn't. However, there was no one else for him; Luci was his only friend, the only person who he was close to (other than his sister, of course). So far, he'd avoided looking at his sister's body, laid upon the bloodstained towels. At Luci's conformation that he was alive, though, he felt his eyes drop down to his sister. It filled him with anger, every time he looked at the various wounds and incisions across her body. Although she was the omega, she was still a part of the pack. How could the other members turn upon their own kind, for something that wasn't her fault? "She... woke up?" he echoed, glancing back up at Luci's tired face. Suddenly, Judd was cursing himself. Why hadn't he been here for it? "What did she say?" he asked eagerly, feeling his entire world weighing upon Skylar's words. Luci quickly reported, informing Judd that Skylar still thought Judd was blameless. Judd clenched his fist, trying to fight the new flood of tears threatening to pour out of his eyes. She was so wrong, if only she knew why she was tortured... It was his fault, his alone. He needed someone to blame, and he blamed himself. However, his naive, trusting sister thought of him blameless, as always. How was she so blind to the atrocities of the world? Of him?

"That's great...," he murmured, feeling relieved that she'd at least had the strength to speak for a little bit. That girl was nowhere to be found in the passed out, mauled body on the center of Luci's floor. Her breathing was hoarse and weak, her face staunch white. His already-frail sister had never looked more fragile in her entire life. "Yeah, I agree," he responded to Luci, who also thought it better for her to be unconscious. Although Judd wanted to see her up and talking, he knew the pain would be much too great. Her broken wrists, ankles, and whatever else still remained to be attended to, along with the concerning gash on her eyes. However, she needed to recover form the blood loss and shock before they even began to tend to those wounds. "It was a miracle that she even survived at all," he muttered, shaking his head and yearning for another swig of Luci. Just like he thought, as soon as Luci caught the scent of the drink in the air and on his breath, she stepped forward. Immediately, Judd recoiled, his grip upon the bottle becoming even stronger, threatening to break the glass. He felt ashamed as Luci asked him the question, which was almost rhetoric. She knew good and well what he'd done, and although he knew it was wrong, he couldn't help himself. Looking to the side of her house as she continued to lecture him, he felt the pit of guilt in his stomach grow deeper. However, his drunk mind needed it, and soon, he felt anger overriding the guilt. "You think I don't know that?!" he bellowed back at Luci, his eyes tearing down to Skyalr, then back to Luci. "You don't think I know my sister is practically bleeding out?! You have no idea what it's like to watch your own family member dyi-," he suddenly stopped himself, knowing he'd gone too far. In his own anger, he'd forgotten Luci's own struggles. She knew what it was like, with her own cancer-ridden mother slipping away.

He closed his eyes and rubbed his hands over his eyes, feeling absolutely terrible. If only he could suck up his words and take back what he'd said. He couldn't, however, and the next best thing he could do was apologize. "Look, I'm sorry for what I said. It's just... this is hard, and I need something to take my mind off of it." Luci was completely right; he needed to help her with Skylar, instead of passed out and drunk. However, his body was weak, and he struggled to give up his bottle. Luci was so insistent, the stubborn look in her eyes glaring into Judd's red-rimmed ones. His arm stayed put, halfway between the two. It had clenched hard around the bottle, and Judd struggled to move it. This was so hard on him, the boy who was drink-dependent. After several moments, he only sighed and pressed the bottle of whiskey into Luci's hands. "Tch, fine," he muttered, his eyes falling to the ground once more. "Take it, you're right... I want it back later though," he grumbled, knowing he could never truly part with his bad habits. Nw that he didn't have the alcohol, though, he needed something else to calm his overactive brain and flooding emotions. Before he knew what he was doing, with all of his vigor, he pressed his lips hard into Luci's.

Luci

Luci stood with a stony look on her face, hand outstretched towards Judd's whiskey bottle. He appeared torn, as if he were to let go of the bottle he'd crumble into a million pieces. "Judd, I promise if you give it to me it'll be okay," she tried once more. However, her words must have been too much because Judd exploded after them. Luci withdrew her hand and took a step back,  eyes widening slightly at the outburst. The whiskey was already gripping his mind. Luci was about to say something to calm him down, but she was instantly frozen at Judd's low blow. Her face contorted into one of cold, terrifying stoniness and her eyes darkened. "Don't even f*cking go there!" The enraged girl seethed, face turning red with anger. "You know damn well that I know what it's like, so you better shut your mouth before I slap it off of you," Luci threatened. She clenched her fists to stop herself from jumping across the floor and tackling Judd- Though she probably wouldn't hurt him too much, she'd have no problem packing in a punch or two.

Eyes still targeted on Judd, she realized that he looked stricken by his comments as he tried to apologize for the harsh words. "Save it, that's why you shouldn't have alcohol in the first place- it makes you a zombie," the girl responded, voice coated in animosity. With a great struggle, Judd thrust the bottle into Luci's hands as an act of defeat. The girl gave it a dirty look before dropping it onto the coffee table, then turning back to Judd. The surrender eased Luci's rage slightly- Though the comment still ate at her, she almost felt as if the whiskey had become a peace offering. "I'll consider this a truce, but that comment will still get your head ripped off if you say one more thing," Luci said, letting her hands down. "So if I were you I'd-" the girl was cut off by Judd's lips slamming on to hers.

Luci's hands gripped his shoulders and shoved him away, eyes wild. "What the hell?!" She almost yelled, taken totally off guard. However, her confusion mixed with anger propelled her to lock her lips back with Judd's. What was Luci even thinking? She wasn't. She wanted to take her anger out and Judd wanted to take out his frustration. Luci's lips moved in sync with Judd's, hers laced with the faint taste of coconut chapstick. Judd's lips tasted like whiskey, and Luci almost felt drunk- Whether it was from alcohol or pure elation, Luci didn't care. Her hands graced Judd's shoulders, twisting his shirt into her fists. "Mmm, I hate you," Luci mumbled against his lips, pressing as close to him as she could get. Her hands then traveled up to Judd's hair and her fingers wound through the curly locks. She felt her anger soaring and melting at the same time, an odd type of feeling. Luci moaned as Judd's hands wrapped around her hips. The feeling was euphoric. She removed her hands from Judd's hair and let them run down his back, tracing the back muscles through his shirt. Her hands copied his as they landed on his Judd's hips, squeezing them as a warning for what she was about to do. Luci wrapped her hands around his neck and jumped up, letting her long legs wrap around Judd's waist. After this she detached her lips from Judd's and started nibbling his ear, moaning. Luci felt Judd's hands grip her thighs to keep her up and she smirked, whispering into his ear in a sultry voice, "Is that all you've got?" Though she was teasing him, Luci's mind was swirling with clouds as the two made out more than they'd ever before.

Judd

It was an uncalled comment, and Luci had promptly exploded. He winced at her cursing, loud voice, her anger stirring in his heart and her loud voice aching in his temples. She had every right to be mad; his comment had been thoughtless and insensitive. Was this all he had to repay her? She didn't need to so gracious and helpful, and she certainly didn't need to let them stay at her house. "Yeah, I'm sorry," he muttered, looking sheepishly from his tattered shoes to her face. She was furious, and for very good reasons. "God, I'm such an idiot, I totally forgot," he murmured, bringing his hand to the back of his neck, as he always did in an uncomfortable situation. "I'm shutting up," he agreed, not wanting to push her buttons any further. She was right; alcohol made him such an asshole. A zombie was taking it a bit far, but he knew she was veering on the truth. With disgust, his drunk mind went back to his father; he'd been the exact same way, drinking in tense situations and then turning into a monster. Was Judd destined to be like him? Now, he was only waiting for the words to come. Soon would come the eviction statement, but before that tense moment arrived, he succumbed to the need of desire in his chest. If he couldn't have the whiskey, he wanted Luci. If only she would have him, of course. So, it was this that prompted his lips to touch her soft, gentle ones.

When his lips touched hers, she did exactly what he'd expected her to do. With strong hands, she gripped his shoulders and succeeded in pushing him back. With a curse, she nearly yelled at him, anger still written clearly all over her face. Oh boy, he'd done it now. "I'm so sorry, I fuck-," he began, but before he could finish, she came back at him, with ferocity. Judd moaned in delight, pressing his lips harder into Luci, as they came apart and collided with each other violently. no kiss had ever been with such anger and frustration from both sides; the were both pissed, stressed and scared, some for different reasons than others. All of Judd's thoughts drained out as Luci's lips were firmly planted on his, smashing and disconnecting, a sloppy make-out session. This was definitely a different outcome that Judd had expected, with Luci becoming even more animalistic with her actions. She could definitely pass for a werewolf, and at that thought, Judd was having difficulty form keeping his lust wolf from emerging. a warm sensation had filled him, as his arms wrapped around Luci's curvy waist, his hands delighting in every dip and curve of her body. There was no noise that Judd could hear, save for the pounding of his chest and blood roaring in his ears. His eyes were shut tight, relying only on his hands and Luci's body to guide him. However, he knew she was still there, as they aggressively continued to make out. The taste of coconut was tantalizing, a contrast from the alcohol on his breath. Yet another reason for him to quit drinking; it probably didn't taste too good, and he was suddenly wishing that he had a mint or something. his shirt was twisted and re-twisted as they grew more passionate, and Judd felt his body coming and closer to her own. His hands gradually worked their way a bit farther down her waist, resisting the ultimate temptation. Although their lips were locked, he would never touch her in places she didn't wished to be touched. Not even the whiskey could make him do that.

A short breath of laughter escaped his mouth and nose as Luci claimed that she hate him. "No you don't," he rumbled back as they began to kiss more comfortable. The ferocity and aggression of their kiss still remained, but not it didn't feel as... angry. It felt as if all the tension had bled out of his body, as if his own sister wasn't raggedly breathing in her unconscious state. A little grunt of pleasure exited Judd as Luci ran her fingers through his hair, an action which he mimicked. Was hair like their shared fetish or something? It always seemed like they ended up with their hands in each other's hair. "Mmh, don't stop," he moaned in response, as his lips became more erratic, his hands rubbing her waist. Her hands were all over him, though, not confined to one part of his body. As he placed his hands gently onto her smooth, beautiful face, hers went to his back, tracing each muscle and sending a shiver up his spine. This was the strangest, yet most charged kiss he'd ever had; never before had he been so frustrated, yet so content. His breath came out ragged and rapid, his mind barley comprehending what was going on. How had they even ended up like this, with drunk, chapped, imperfect whiskey lips against the lips of an angel?

Another moan escaped him as she squeezed his hips, and although this was her form of a warning, he suspected nothing. A surprised grunt exited his mouth as she hopped up upon him, her legs squeezing against his torso. Reacting quickly, Judd grabbed her back for support and pulled her in tight, as if he was cradling her. She was such a tease, and her tease had sent another sound through him, one that didn't sound all human. It was a growl mixed in with a moan, one that she wouldn't take too oddly, he hoped. "This is just a warm up," he breathed, his voice rough and quite hot, in his opinion. His right hand supported her with ease, just on the cusp of her back and shoulders, while his left hand was free and stroking her hair as his lips continued to slam against the smooth, coconut-tasting lips of hers. He could have gone at this all night, his emotions mixed with nerves, frustration, and elation. however, a small voice caught his attention, forcing him to open his eyes and glance about the room.

Skylar

The poor girl had passed out just before her brother came home, to Luci's disappointment. She'd wanted to stay awake for the girl, but once she felt sleep pulling at her tired eyes, and the bitter, burning pain pulsing throughout her body, she couldn't stand it much longer. In the land of darkness and silence, there was no pain. It was as if she was already dead, her face pallid and her bandages stained with blood. She was almost forgotten about, as her brother began to make out with Luci. Skylar's unconscious state was fitful, however, and much to her dismay, she soon felt the stabbing, burning pain enter her body once more. It was unbearable, making her want to scream. However, she didn't have enough strength for that, and all that exited her mouth was a faint, pitiful whimper. It hurt so bad, there was simply no way to describe it. The pain was excruciating, not a part of her body that wasn't burning in agony. However, through her pain-filled state, she was able to hear the sounds of sucking and moaning.

Slowly and weakly, the girl opened her eyes, her right eye still blind and milky. To make matters worse, the pair just happened to be on her sighted side, and she saw a scene that she never wished to see ever again. There, in Luci's living room, was her brother, his lips mashed against Luci's, and the girl with her legs wrapped around his torso. Skylar always had a feeling the two cared for each other, more than friends. She saw nothing wrong with a werewolf and a human together, but... Actually seeing them together and making out as if their lives depended on it was not what she wanted to see. Her dazed eyes as wide as they could be in embarrassment, she only gasped as Judd suddenly stopped and started over at her, with the same look of mortification. "Judd, be... careful," was all she was able to mutter in her state of pain. She knew his wolf was more apt to come out when sexually aroused, and she knew Luci would not take well to it. It was as if this girl could not watch anymore, an extremely embarrassing situation for all three of them. With another moan, Skylar once again closed her eyes and fell unconscious.

Judd

His sister. She awoke, at the worst of times. he pulled back abruptly form the kiss, his eyes widening and his moth open in mortification. What would she think of this? He could tell by her embarrassed expression that this was a situation she never wanted to intrude upon. The faintest blush of shock was on her cheeks, and Judd could only hope she'd approve of... whatever he and Luci were. God, being caught making out with another girl b his dying sister was one of the worst feelings. Judd was speechless, much like her. Finally, she managed to warn him to be careful, and she knew exactly what she meant. his wolf was becoming capricious, and he felt the beast within him pressing closer and closer. There was a great risk kissing Luci, and with anymore charged connections, it might emerge from him. And that was something he could not have. "Sky...," he whimpered, feeling the need to go back over to his sister; she needed him. However, she didn't stay awake much longer, and she was soon unconscious once more. Glancing back over to Luci with reddened, mortified cheeks, he murmured,"Sorry about that. I didn't mean to break away like that. It just... I was not expecting that." From here, he had no idea where they would go. Whether they'd continue or retire was beyond him. However, he whispered gently in her ear,"You're an amazing kisser. Thank you for that, I needed it. You're right about the whiskey, I got... out of control. I'm so sorry for what I said." His hands ran gently through her hair, and although he felt the need to sit by his sister, he couldn't bear to let go of Luci, in all of her beauty and allure.

Luci

Though Judd had been surprised when Luci jumped onto him, he reacted quickly by placing one hand against her back firmly and and the other going straight to her hair. They always seemed to have their hands in each other's hair. Judd made a noise that almost sounded like a growl, but Luci wasn't deterred by it. "Only a warm up, hhmm?" Luci whispered into his ear, lips gently nibbling at the skin below it. Their lips smashed for a few more moments before Judd abruptly pulled away, looking to the ground where Skylar was. Luci turned her head to see what he was looking at and with wide eyes realized that Skylar had woken up again. The three blankly stared at each other for a few moments, all of them drowning in mortification and embarrassment. Skylar whispered something to Judd- Luci didn't catch exactly what she's said- and then became unconscious once again. It was good to see that she was waking up more, but of course at the worst of times. Luci was so shocked she didn't even hop down from being wrapped around Judd. After all, he hadn't let go of her. "No... No, it's fine... I'm just as freaked as you are..." Luci mumbled. Cheeks practically redder than strawberries, the mortified girl buried her head into Judd's neck. "Oh god, your sister is gonna hate me... She's gonna think I'm disgusting..." Luci moaned, trying to disappear.

While her head was still in his neck, Judd turned his head and whispered into her ear, causing another rush of blood to her cheeks. Lips brushing against Judd's neck, Luci whispered back, "You too, y'know. I think we both needed that- it's been building up for a while." The embarrassed girl bit her lip at Judd's apology. "I'm still mad at what you said," she stated truthfully, "but I don't think I'm mad at you, per se." Judd's fingers ran through her messy hair, causing Luci to close her eyes and sigh for a brief moment. Though what had just happened- all of it- was crazy, Luci still felt charged up. She wanted to help Skylar, but there wasn't much to do. No medication that Luci had would help, and the towels didn't need to be replaced yet. Smirking a bit, Luci lifted her head and placed her forehead against Judd's, looking into his green eyes. "Does this feel like angry to you?" she asked in a teasing voice, pressing her lips to Judd and passionately kissing him. If he protested she'd stop, but if he didn't then she'd keep going. She pulled away, smirking at him, only to have Judd press her closer and continue the fiery kiss. This time the two weren't angrily smacking their faces together- instead, they were passionately locked in what could have been Luci's most euphoric kiss ever experienced.

Luci's coconut-laced lips moved in sync with Judd's whiskey-coated ones. Her one hand was clasped on the back of his neck to help support herself, while the other sat on his shoulder blade. Judd's hand on her back gripped her shirt, and for a moment Luci had to break the kiss so she could throw her head back in ecstasy. She quickly locked her lips onto his again. Luci's legs wrapped tighter around Judd's waist, causing their chests to be compressed against one another. God, she could be such a tease- whether it was consciously or not. The pair continued to make out, little moans and grunts escaping them here and there. Luci felt Judd's hand slowly travel down her back, squeezing her hips and rubbing her waist. He stopped right above her butt, and though Luci did think it was nice that he wouldn't go where she didn't say he could, she also laughed a bit. "Y'know it's okay, right?" She mumbled against his lips. Her hand on his shoulder reached to place itself on Judd's hand, guiding it down so it rested on her butt. Smirking, the girl removed her lips from Judd's, tilting her head to bite his neck. Surely she would end up leaving a mark there. Coming back to him, the girl bit Judd's lip lightly and tugged on it before continuing their heated kiss. "F*ck," Luci groaned, feeling Judd's hand explore her hips. In response she gripped his shirt in her fist, pressing herself even closer to him. Pure euphoria clouded Luci's mind as lips collided and hands wandered. Their make out had started with fury, then lust, then embarrassment, and now blissful compassion. Never had Luci felt this connected to someone when they kissed, and Luci kind of hoped that Judd felt the same way. Quite frankly, this whole situation turned her on.

Judd
They were both taken aback by the sudden awakening of Skylar, but luckily it didn't last very long. He never thought he'd be glad to say it, but Judd felt so relieved when she fell unconscious again. His cheeks redder than they'd ever been, he turned back to Luci, who was even more embarrassed than him. However, like a schoolboy that's broken a rule, Judd began to grin and feel slightly silly. With cheeks red like strawberries, Luci muttered in dismay that she would be hated by Skylar. It was a silly thought, and Judd went on to respond, chuckling somewhat,"No, she won't hate you Luci. I don't think she's ever hated anyone in her entire life, and I'm pretty sure no one could hate you. She was just really embarrassed, that's all." With another grin, he added,"Besides, if she's got to be disgusted at anyone, it'll probably be me." He knew that if the tables were turned, and if somehow Skylar was kissing someone in front of him in a parallel universe where she wasn't so shy and prudish he'd be disgusted as well. Judd didn't want to worry about that now, though. If Luci still wasn't put off by the awkward situation, he wanted to continue where they'd left off.

She hadn't gotten down form him yet, so that was a good sign. Luci's soft lips prickled on his neck as she replied to him, complimenting his kisses as well. "I've had a lot of practice, believe me. You're the best by far though," he murmured back, mirroring her as he whispered into her neck. He was hurt to hear that she was still mad at what he'd said, but he could understand at the same time. Alcohol just didn't mix well with him, and even now he was still feeling the effects reeling in his brain. Although the kiss from Luci had helped decrease his wild emotions, he still felt and inexplicable anger rising in his stomach every time he looked at his poor sister. Those bastards would pay, but later... He needed to focus on Skylar... And Luci. Besides, he had no idea how he would explain more mysterious wounds to Luci; she was already pretty suspicious. Anyways, there was a fine line driven between anger at his comment, and anger at him as a person. His comment had taken the brunt of the anger, while Judd was off scott-free. "Yeah, I was an asshole, no denying that. I'll be sure to keep my mouth shut, and try thinking before I talk. Definitely skills I need to work on," he chuckled, looking off once again to the side in embarrassment and guilt.

He gazed once more at his helpless sister, and then back to Luci. She had the same thoughts, unbeknownst to him. They both wanted to help, but there wasn't much more they could do... Judd knew werewolves were supposed to have advanced healing systems, but Skylar's never seemed up to par. She'd just always be the frail little girl that she was. What Judd could do, though, was de-stress. He'd hated crying, and the alcohol running in his blood made him more lusty than usual. He was sure Skylar wouldn't mind, as long as she wasn't watching... He was drawn out of balancing the scales in his mind as Luci resumed the kissing session, her lips once again merging with his. Their faces mashed, while Judd's grip on her back grew tighter. One hand was still close to her butt, yet had not overstepped his boundary. After having drinks pored on him one too many times by girls whose boundaries he'd overstepped, Judd had learned his lesson. And by god, he never wanted to do that to Luci, no matter how drunk he was.

The passion continued, and Judd had never felt more stressed, yet euphoric in his entire life. No matter how terrible and bloody situations could get, Luci was always here to lock her lips into his. It was momentarily broken, and in anxiety, Judd opened his eyes to see what he'd done wrong. However, to his relief, Luci had just tossed back her head, before returning to his lips once again. She'd looked like a goddess, for the brief moment he'd seen her dark hair sexily thrown back. Her body was close, so tantalizingly close, but whenever he'd lean in closer, she'd pull back. Why was she taunting him so? The wolf in him desired to push closer, and it was only aggravated as she moved back so. However, she noticed his eager hands, and quickly granted him access to where they desired to go. Hand over his, she gently guided him to her butt, causing a warm feeling and a full blush to erupt over him. Resting on her butt, his hand was in paradise as it gripped it and explored. he was taken out of his exploration, though, as he felt a nip in his neck. Giving an animalistic little yelp, he jolted his eyes open in both pleasure and surprise. "Jesus, if you give me a hickey, Skylar will really be disgusted," he laughed, for some reason feeling as if it was utterly hilarious. Honestly, he felt so high, but it was just Luci. Another little nip was given to his lips, causing Judd to moan erratically in response. She was great at this, and although she seemed cold and prudish at first, this girl was nothing short of a dream.

She took well to his little odyssey around her hips and her butt, as she moaned what he'd been thinking the whole time. Fuck. Would that ever be a possibility with her. Besides, what would the outcomes be? Eve if they did participate in protected intercourse, what if she managed to get pregnant? The whole thought was s nightmare; what would become of an interspecies child? Her lips were enough to distract him from his over-thinking mind, though, and he once more smashed his lips into hers. What would she think about a little French? However, he knew some girls hated it, and until he knew what her preferences were, he'd keep his tongue in his own mouth. This was amazing for him, and he only hoped it was even better for her. He'd never felt more love in his entire life, and in this moment, he was convinced that he loved her, despite their awkward position. His lips delved into hers for another kiss, but another sound caught his ears. A small gasp and wheeze were coming from Skylar, and regretfully, he pulled back from Luci. He'd never had a better kiss in his entire life, but he knew he had to help his sister first. "Hang on, sorry," he murmured, and delicately, he placed her down as if she was made of glass.

Although Skylar was unconscious, she was still wheezing and having difficulty breathing -- no doubt her asthma screwing with her as it always did. It was lucky he'd purchased another inhaler form the store, because she'd be desperate for it. Shaking her body slightly to wake he kneeled down below the broken girl. As soon as her eyes fluttered open, he saw something was distinctly wrong with her left eye. It was milky white, with a long red slash running through it. The coughing and gasping girl looked ready to faint again, so he quickly placed the inhaler in her mouth and pressed the button for her. A puff of medicine was sent into her throat, and somehow she was able to hold her breath for a few moments to ensure the medicine didn't leave her. Relief dawned over her pained face, and without making an comments of their makeout, she shut her eyes and became unconscious again. Judd paced back over to Luci, feeling guilty for breaking away so abruptly. "Sorry, about that... Her asthma was starting, and I was afraid it'd get worse," he muttered, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "We can... keep going if you want to. I've never felt so happy in my life," he admitted with a stupid little grin. However, the picture of Skylar's eye remained in his mind, and he couldn't help but go back to worry about his sister. "You... saw her left eye, didn't you? It looked awful. Do you... think she's blind in it?" His words cracked slightly, showing that although he was brave and confident when it came to kissing, he was still no less scared of his sister's life. Shrugging, he huffed,"Sorry. You're probably sick of hearing about her. We can keep going if you want to, I'm sure she won't wake up again." He stepped forward, seeing if she would reciprocate. If she was getting tired of having Skylar interrupt, he wouldn't blame her. Truthfully, he was exhausted, but he wouldn't mind one last kiss for the night.

Luci

Luci enjoyed Judd's kisses, feeling as if she was floating. However, Judd pulled away for a few moments and Luci opened her eyes in confusion. Why had he stopped? Then she heard Skylar's slight whine and immediately she jumped out of Judd's grip, landing squarely on the ground. While Luci stood watching him, Judd rifled through the store bag, found the inhaler he'd purchased, and quickly knelt down beside Skylar. Skylar's eyes fluttered open and Luci saw what she'd seen when Judd had been out- His sister's one eye was milky white. Luci knew that meant one thing. Skylar was undoubtedly blind in that eye. Her cornea was most likely severed and she'd probably never see again out of it. Luci had learned some about the cornea in her one of her freshman year medical classes. The professor had said that certain cornea damages were irreversible and Luci feared- no, knew- that this was what he'd been talking about. How would she tell Judd? Surely he could tell something was wrong, but did he know the extent of his sister's injury? If her one eye was blind, was the other one damaged as well? She'd seen Judd and Luci kissing, and she'd seen Luci when they'd talked, but how well was she seeing?

By the time she'd come out of her worries, Judd had finished medicating Skylar and was watching over her as she slid back into unconsciousness. She watched as he looked at his sister with such a look of love and worry and Luci's heart pulsed. No one deserved this type of pain- watching a relative die. Luci thought about how she was watching her mother die, but even that wasn't like this. Her mother hadn't been brutally attacked and slowly losing life on a friend's floor. "Hm?" Luci quietly murmured, hearing Judd's footsteps as he walked back over to her. "Oh.. Um, no, it's fine..." She mumbled, a yawn escaping and cutting off her words. "I'm actually pretty tired... Maybe later," Luci lightly smiled, nudging Judd's shoulder with her own. He brought up his sister's eye, and with a deep breath, Luci dropped the bomb she'd been thinking about moments before. "I saw it, yeah. I don't wanna say it for fear that it'll be too true, but there's no way she's gonna be able to see out of it again. I learned about stuff like this in one of my classes during freshman year- The way her cornea's scratched is most likely irreversible if it's that milky looking," Luci whispered. "I'm sorry," she murmured, as if it was her fault. Which, unbeknownst to her, it almost was.

"C'mon, let's go sit on the couch," she suggested, lacing her fingers with Judd's and dragging him to the couch where she plopped down. A sigh of comfort left her lips as she sunk into the cushions, letting the stress release from her. "I'm so tired..." Luci mumbled as her lips found Judd's neck and gently kissed him. She then placed her head on his shoulder and crossed her legs criss-cross style. Luci closed her eyes and let her mind wander, enjoying Judd's presence. "I hope your sister is gonna be okay," she said after a few moments, struggling to reopen her eyes. Luci's ponytail was draped over her friend's shoulder as she leaned all of her weight onto him. It was almost 3am and Luci had work in fourteen hours. Maybe she'd call in sick or something- She couldn't leave Judd and Skylar alone. Or maybe she would go to work and try to come home earlier than usual. She was scheduled to work until 12am but maybe she'd stay only until 10pm. Hopefully the cafe wouldn't too busy tomorrow night.

Reaching for a blanket on the top of the couch, Luci grabbed one and wrapped it around herself. "Want one?" She asked Judd, motioning to the other one behind his head. Luci always kept blankets on the couch for whenever she didn't want to get up and go to her bed, and for moments like this. Squeezing Judd's hand, Luci snuggled closer to him. She lifted her head to give him a sweet kiss on the edge of his mouth, smiling. "If I fall asleep you can wake me up if you want. I don't mind staying awake, but you should get some sleep if you can," she said through a yawn. "Do you want me to put the TV or radio on?" Luci asked, grabbing the TV remote and placing it in her lap. She hoped he'd say one or the other, but if he didn't then it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Rubbing her thumb over his hand, Luci rested her head back on Judd's shoulder with a small smile.

Judd

He wasn't stupid, and he definitely was aware that there was something wrong with Skylar. Her milky white eyes haunted him, the middle sliced open with a daunting daunting red gash. Judd's eyes rested on the image of his unconscious sister for a few moments, bathing the final look of peace on her face. She hadn't complained once, not this whole time. Of course she'd cried a bit, bt she'd been so strong. If it had been him, he would have been screaming in agony. No, she was merely sleeping, just sleeping... She would get better, wouldn't she? Now, it was as if Judd could hear the words of his father in his head. Protect her. Watch over her. Didn't I fucking tell you to keep an eye on her? If you had just been paying attention, none of this would have happened. She almost died because of you, you know. As these words from past experiences flooded into his mind, Judd shut his watering eyes and clenched his fists. Body trembling slightly, he willed for the assaulting words; his anger was rising, as was his desire to shift. He needed to rip, to kill... This was all too much for him. However, Luci was his anchor in his inner storm, and at her voice, he slowly opened his eyes and turned to face his angel.

Their kiss was broken, for the night. It seemed as if he'd ruined it, like he ruined everything else. However, he couldn't blame her; like Luci, he was completely exhausted. The after-effects of that kiss were like a hangover. He felt drained, exhausted, and emotionally spent. Maybe it was from all of the passion, or simply due to the dismal circumstances, but Judd felt as if he could barley lift his feet. Feeling like lead, he made his way back over to Luci, his eyes blinking sleepily as he tried to absorb her words. His brain was processing slowly, making him feel stupid and incompetent; it was like being high on marijuana. However, after a few moments, Luci's words sunk in. The utter exhaustion and confusion dawned out of his face as he began t comprehend the gravity of Skylar's injuries. "Her... eye... She won't... She won't be able to see out of it?" he whimpered out, like some animal caught in a hunter's trap. It was no surprise; he knew looking at it she was most likely blind in that eye. But actually hearing it, seeing it... It was a completely different story. Color drained out of his face as his mind slowly began to think of the effects. Skylar would no longer be able to hunt, no longer be able to be observant, or watch her back. What if the pack pulled some shit like this again, and attacked her from the side? What if anything else happened to her? She was blind in one eye, vulnerable and damaged. "God, I...," he whimpered, once again feeling the impeding tears. Judd didn't doubt Luci; she was always right. Now, though, he was desperate to get a different diagnosis. "You're sure about this? About her being half-blind? God, who am I kidding? She is, I knew it after I saw her open her eyes..." Placing his face into his hands, he drew in air, fighting desperately for control. He already felt his wolfish characteristics coming to play. His teeth felt longer, his body felt warmer and bigger. He needed to control himself. If he shifted, matters would only be worse. Not only would he have a dying sister, but on top of that, the girl of his dreams would never speak of him again.

She apologized for Skylar's injuries; he knew she was probably just sorry for his situation, but she sounded like she was to blame. It couldn't be farther from the truth; due to Judd's reckless behavior, he'd brought destruction upon his own fragile sibling. "It's.. It's fine Luci, we'll get through this somehow." Wait, when was there ever a 'we?' Why was he including Luci in something that was his problem? Her small fingers laced with his large, clumsy ones, leading him to the couch. It was as if he'd been standing for years; slowly, he sunk into the couch cushions, letting out a sigh of relief. It had never felt so good to sit down, to relax. Feeling his eyelids already starting to flutter, Judd grunted back,"Me too. It's like I've been up for ages... you need to sleep, Luci. You look exhausted." His eyes shifted to the pale face of his friend, or whatever they were. he hated to be the cause of her exhaustion, of the drooping eyelids and pale complexion. Never before had he seen such beauty, and such allure. She was his anchor, his muse, his small sense of reality and peace in the world. Simply put, she was his everything. Her lips wandered to his neck, another gentle kiss causing him to moan erotically in pleasure. "Luci... You'e wonderful, do you know that?" he mumbled, his eyes feeling heavier by the second. He knew she was probably just as tired, but for once, he wanted to fight sleep in order to stay with Luci. He couldn't bear to look at his sister's mangled body, though. Maybe asleep was a better alternative? But in the land of silence and darkness, there was no Luci. Her head fell in his shoulders, and his hand groped about for hers. Eyes staring ahead blankly, he felt completely spent. "Luci?" he drawled, not sure if he was being candid from sheer exhaustion or open bravery. "I love you." That was all he could say, and all he was feeling.

She was s generous offering him a blanket. Unable to find the words, he only nodded, his throat feeling like sandpaper. A nasty headache was pounding in his temples, and his body was beginning to shake due to the stress and anxiety. In order to quell his trembles, Luci snuggled closer, her lips once agin landing on the corner of his mouth. He gratefully gave her a little smooch back, lacking energy, but radiating sweetness. "You're too good for me, Luci." She started talking about sleep, and even the word made him feel tiered. "You need to sleep too... Don't worry, I won't wake you up, purposely at least. I might need to get up a few times if Skylar has another asthma attack or anything. You don't need to worry about the towels, I've at least got that. Get some rest sweetheart," he murmured, giving Luci his own soft kiss on her lips. What would he do without here? Soon, he felt his eyes staring to shut. Luci's question of the tv or radio was unneeded, and unanswered; as long as she was with him, he was fine. A part of his was a afraid of going to sleep; what if Skylar died while he was out? What f the pack found him and got Luci next? However, his body wasn't strong enough to fight off the sleep, and sooner than he knew, he was drifting away.

Timeskip

His rest wasn't very solid. He'd woken up countless times, from nightmares and his fears. So many times, he'd dreamt of the devilish features of is alpha, the screams of his sister... But there was more. In the fray of fear and blood, Luci had been there. Replacing his sister's body had been her, just as mangled and damaged. but she hadn't been as lucky as Skylar. In front of him, she was stone cold and dead. This nightmare plagued him again and again, sending him jolting awake and silently trembling. After a while, he gave up on sleep and tried to keep his mind busy. He was sitting upon the floor, with Luci still passed out on her couch. He watched her some of the time, and his sister the other part. He'd changed her bloody towels, and made sure she wouldn't need any assistance. She's stayed unconscious the rest of the night, making no movements or inclinations to show that she was alive. the only proof that she was still living was the very faint rise and fall of her chest, and the slight tremble of her broken body. It filled him with rage to see her like this, and it was all his fault. What if it happened to Luci too? These thoughts were what kept him up, and Judd felt the drive to protect the two girls that he loved.

Luci

Luci's sleep had been solid. She'd fallen asleep with her head on Judd's shoulder, hands in her lap, legs crossed. She woke up, however, with her face pressed against the plush material of her couch, legs splayed, arms tucked under her stomach. With a soft groan, the girl opened her eyes and turned her head. Judd sat on the floor next to his sister and by the looks of it he'd been there for quite some time. His back was hunched, shoulder sloping. Luci hadn't even felt him move off of the couch. How much sleep had he gotten? In fact, how much had she gotten? Pushing herself up slightly to see her wall clock, Luci realized that is was almost 11:30am. Wow, she'd been out for a while. Hopefully Judd hadn't been up for too long because she'd feel kind of bad if he'd been alone- Yet at the same time Luci's sleep was much needed, especially if she was going to work tonight. Wiping stray hairs out of her eyes, she sat up and leaned against the couch, pausing a moment before fully standing up. Her feet dragged slightly across the carpet as she made her way over to Judd's hunched figure. With a small smile she saw that Skylar's towels had been changed, the blood-soaked ones being replaced by fresh ones.

Slowly stooping down, Luci wrapped her arms around Judd and placed her head on his shoulder blade. "Hey there, how'd you sleep?" She asked quietly, looking over his shoulder at Skylar. Judd relaxed a bit under her touch, but she could tell that he was still stressed- He had every reason to be. "I see you changed the towels," Luci started, "and I could've helped if you'd woken me up... But thank you for changing them nonetheless." Luci's hands massaged his shoulders, trying to alleviate any tension that she could. The two sat in silence for some time, watching Judd's sister as her chest rose slightly with each small breath. Skylar's face had regained some color, though not much. Her wounds were terrible. She looked as if she was already dead. Luci's lips turned into a pout at the thought of Skylar's condition. She wanted to help all that she could, but life had it's limits. Thinking of this, Luci realized that she'd have to leave Judd to go to work later. "Hey, I uh... I'm gonna have to go to work today around 4. I really wanna stay with you two, but I can't miss my shift. You'll be alright here, yeah?" she asked, letting go of Judd to sit beside him. "I'll probably leave around 3:30 or so, and I won't be back until 11 but I can try to get out earlier. If you need me to pick up anything while I'm out, I can," continued Luci. They had some bandages still, but maybe Judd needed something specific. Her mind didn't even consider the fact that the one thing he'd probably want- alcohol- was already there.

Judd

His eyes were not to be drawn off of his sister, as he watched her every shuddering breath. The bloody images of her body from the night before couldn't escape his head. No matter how many times he'd try shutting his eyes for the night, those bloody images were enough to rack him awake. He'd never felt so close to shifting, never so close to loosing control in front of Luci. The hairs on the back of his neck stood and his teeth were clenched all night as he tried to send back impending wave after wave of the desire to shift. Control was slipping out of his grasp, just as the life was slipping out of his sister. In order to distract his mind, he had busied himself the whole night, changing towels, getting blankets, and doing some things that weren't even necessary, like wiping some of the excess blood off of Luci's floor. No one wanted any of that on their hardwood... Why should he leave it on his close friend's nice wood? Not only was he unable to keep his mind off of worry and anger, but also of their kiss last night. It had been charged with electric, fiery passion, the desire to absorb all of the danger and stress that Judd had brought into their lives. No kiss had ever been quite like that one, and it left Judd wanting more. Every time his eyes wandered off of his sister to Luci's sleeping face, he couldn't help but wish she was up with him. However, her sleep was more important than his wish to not be alone.

Sun slowly crept across the floorboard and into the living room. It landed on half of his sister's face, making her look slightly angelic. It was as if she'd been taken in the middle of the night, leaving behind her damaged and mutilated body. Judd thought this instantly and went to check her pulse. To his relief, it was the same as it had been before -- very weak, yet still hanging on. The chirping song birds from outside signified it was morning -- had he really gone the whole night with little to no sleep? The dark circles and mussed hair clearly illustrated this, as the broad shouldered man leaned forward on his knees and felt his eyelids start to drop. No, he couldn't fall asleep on Skylar... She needed someone to watch over her, as he had clearly failed to do so last night. His eyes were so focused on her broken figure that his normally-sharp ears didn't even pick up the slow, lumbering footsteps of Luci. It wasn't until her gentle hands came down upon his shoulders that he noticed she was even awake.

Jumping slightly, startled at the sudden contact. Judd laid his hand upon hers, but without taking his eyes off of Skylar's pale face. Stifling a yawn, he responded,"Mornin' Luci." His words dragged, as if he had a hangover, but it was a hangover of a different sort -- an emotional kind. Somehow, he had repressed the urge to grab the bottle that Luci had hid (not too well) in the refrigerator. No, this was a hangover all of its own, filled with self-hate, anxiety, exhaustion, and fear. His rough and tense hand rubbed the top of Luci's trying to absorb anything he could from her. Already, he felt like some sort of leech, sucking the life, sanity, and happiness from Luci. As much as he hated being a burden, though, Judd simply had no other options. Already, the course of his actions was starting to hit him, and hard. He had no pack at all, making him only a loner. He needed somewhere to belong, to feel needed... It was the pack mentality of his wolf, and somehow he found the reflection of his desires in Luci. However, she could never know that monster that he truly was. It was his kind that had done this to Skylar, and they could do it to Luci too. In fact, even he could.

Taking several moments to respond, Judd found it best to be candid. "Truthfully... No, not that great. I tried falling asleep, but it was never for long." His words were grunted and slurred, his eyes red and puffy. Finally taking his gaze off of his mangled sister, he glanced up at Luci. She looked to be suffering the same symptoms of exhaustion as he was. Her hair was wild and her eyes dark and laden with exhaustion. "I hope you slept well... Probably not though," he huffed, burying his head into his hands. Judd was at a loss of why he'd brought his problems onto Luci's shoulders, why he'd even gotten involved with her in the first place. This brought more pain than he could bear, not knowing where they stood, or what would happen to them. He'd endangered his sister, and now he was endangering Luci. The longing desire for the dark, liquid was creeping within him, and he wished he could just drown himself and his problems in a sea of alcohol. However, Luci was tired enough, and he didn't want for her to deal with a bleeding girl and an extremely drunk man all within the same day.

Luci noted the changed towels -- Judd had tossed the bloodied ones in the trash. There was no way to salvage those, and he didn't think Luci would ever want to use those bloodstained towels again. On these, there were some small drops of blood, but most of the dark, red liquid had stayed contained in the bandages. Those were also due for a change as well. Her injuries stretched everywhere, up onto more awkward parts, such as her upper leg, back, and chest. Feeling uncomfortable dressing his sister's wounds in those places, Luci would have to be the one to be graced with the awkward task. Even though Luci was virtually an acquaintance to Skylar, he couldn't be the one seeing her body in those places. As her brother, it would be completely indecent. "Yeah, I changed them," he noted, another yawn interrupting his sentence. However he became slightly more lively as Luci suggested that he should have woken her up. "Woken you up? Hell no, you needed to sleep!" he argued, indignant and insistent. However, at her apology and the working of her hands on his tight muscles, he visibly relaxed. "You're welcome Luci... It was nothing. She is my sister after all, and it shouldn't be any of your worries. I just marched in here last night, I'm so sorry about that... I just.. I literally couldn't think of anywhere else to go. You're all I've got." His last words were so painstakingly honest and true; he really had no one. There was no family, other than their estranged father. There were no friends, no extended relatives. Just Luci, and Judd wanted to make sure it stayed that way.

She addressed work, once again making Judd feel like a complete asshole. He hadn't even stopped to think of that. "Oh shit, work?" wasn't there any way she could call in sick? Judd had no idea how this exhausted girl would function. and what about that kid, Simon? If she saw him at work, he was bound to ask questions. There was no way to protest, though. Luci needed the work, as she did the money. They sat in silence for a bit, as she kept working on the strained and stressed muscles in his back. Already, the boy was relaxing in her firm grasp. his eyes threatened to shut, completely exhausted and almost blissful -- if it wasn't for the worry that pierced his heart. The more he thought about Luci leaving the house, the more he was fearful for her safety. Judd had no idea if the pack would try and finish off the deed they started. What if they were to ambush her on the way there? "Hey Luci," he began, his rough and hoarse voice breaking the silence between them. "How would you feel if I was to walk you to work? I just have a bad feeling about you going alone." It sounded so awkward, and so weird. Judd had no idea how he would explain his inner fears to her -- that would mean that he'd have to explain the incident last night, and what he truly was. At this point, Judd knew he couldn't avoid the truth forever. However, he could try as long as he could. "I mean, I'll be alright here, I can hold up the fort," he explained. It would be awful to be alone, but he could manage. Besides, being alone gave him the time to think about what he wanted to do. "I just need to make sure you need to get to work safe. I've got everything under control here, though. I can take care of Sky."

Judd was unsure of what Luci would say to is proposition. Would she write him off as crazy or possessive? Honestly, he just wanted to ensure her safety, and that the pack wouldn't put her on their hit list. Although it was unlikely, it was still a possibility, and one that Judd refused to take. No matter what Luci said, he'd trail behind her. It would be preferable to do this in his wolf form, where Luci wouldn't recognize him, but he knew it was near to impossible. In a small town that had an abundance of hunters, it was like asking for death. However, no matter the difficulties, he'd follow her somehow. It made him feel like some sort of stalker, but extreme fear lead to irrational solutions, and this was one of them. Judd turned his face to Luci and simply stared at her face. She was just so damn beautiful, even when she was exhausted. However, a small cough from his sister forced him to drive his attention away from Luci. Giving Skylar a brief shake, he was able to jog the girl into consciousness. With a pained expression on her face, she opened her mouth with extreme effort, knowing what needed to be done. Quickly administering her asthma medication as to not keep her in pain for much longer, Judd took action and watched as the relief dawned on his poor sister's face. He asked how she was feeling, and his ears took in her faint murmur. "Hurts so bad," was her small whisper, before she let out a small moan of pain and fell unconscious again. Rubbing his eyes, Judd echoed her moan as well. "Jesus, what did I do to deserve this? When do you have to leave, brown eyes? I need to get my mind off of this. Skylar is completely pulverized and I can't bear to se her like this." There was no way he could just leave; he couldn't risk to leave her alone for more than a few minutes. However, there had to be something to keep his mind occupied. As long as he was with Luci, though, anything was more than enough.

Luci

"Don't worry about it, I don't mind you two being here," Luci scoffed, shaking her head, "though it wasn't expected. That doesn't mean that it's a bad thing- I'm glad to help." She continued to work at the strained muscles in Judd's back, placing her chin on his shoulder. Luci furrowed her brows at his question, pausing her massaging to give him a quizzical look. "Hmm?" She asked. She'd heard him all right, but she was confused as to why. Yes, his sister had been attacked and maybe he was afraid that she herself would get attacked as well, but he had no reason to worry. Luci had walked to work hundreds of times without a problem. She didn't need him to walk her. Judd needed to stay here with Skylar in case she woke up again. "Umm, you should stay here with your sister, I'll be fine," the girl gently responded, placing her hand on Judd's shoulder. "She needs you more than I will when I go to work, Judd, you know that."

Sighing, Luci stood and walked to her kitchen to make some tea. While Judd took care of Skylar again, the girl tapped her fingers against the counter, organizing her thoughts and plans for the day. She had an hour or two before work, and then she'd be gone for a while. Judd would stay here- Judd. That was another thing she needed to sort out. Skylar wouldn't be able to move anywhere for a while, but she couldn't have both of them in her small house forever. She'd deal with that at a later date. Placing her tea in a small mug, she returned to the living room and sat back down next to Judd. he looked so pained, and it hurt her, too. "You did nothing to deserve this... Sometimes bad things happen to good people- I don't know why, but sometimes it just happens like that. It's unfortunate, but maybe it's just a test of your love for your sister," Luci suggested, shrugging. "It's terrible, either way... But she'll get through it and so will you," she assured. "Judd, as much as you want to get out, you'll need to stay here with her. In her condition she can't be left alone," Luci reiterated, glancing at the broken figue of Skylar. Continuing, she shrugged and sipped her tea, saying, "Well, there's got to be something to take your mind off of it for a little bit. Maybe watch TV, read, try to sleep a bit, y'know? I know it's hard, but you've got to stay healthy to take care of Skylar." Luci gently lay her head on Judd's shoulder, hoping her words comforted him at least a little.

***short timeskip***

Glancing at the clock, Luci huffed and stood up from her spot- The pair had barely moved for a few hours. "I need to get ready for work," she mumbled, trudging off to her room. Some minutes later she appeared nearly a different person. Her mousy-brown hair was pulled back in a neat bun, her green eyes were nicely made up to hide her exhaustion, and her work shirt was ironed and accompanied by a crisp pair of black jeans. Luci scuttled around the living room and kitchen, grabbing various items and stuffing them into her purse. She glided over to Judd and bent down, pecking his cheek. "Be safe, yeah? Take care of Skylar and make sure that my house doesn't burn down," she joked, rubbing his shoulder. "If you need anything, use my house phone to call me- My number is written on a paper on the kitchen table." She almost felt like she was a mother leaving for work and informing the baby sitter about all of the house rules. Luci slid her shoes on at the door, shrugged on her jacket and grabbed her keys off of their hook. At the last moment before she left, the girl ran back into her kitchen and snagged her time card off of the fridge. "Almost forgot this," she mumbled to herself. Rushing back to the door, Luci smiled lightly in Judd's direction. "See you later, call me if you need anything!" She repeated before stepping into the afternoon air and heading off to a long evening of work. Hopefully Judd would be all right without her there. He was a grown man, he should be fine...

Judd

He always detested imposing on other's hospitality. Although Luci affirmed that it was alright that they had invaded their home, Judd still felt very wrong about it. It wasn't his house to stroll into, carrying a bloody girl and sobbing hysterically. He felt like a lost child, unsure of what to do with himself. Judd sighed in both exasperation and relaxation as Luci continued to work on his tense shoulders and back. He knew better than to fight with her. He'd stay as long as was needed, but then he'd leave. He needed to find work somewhere and to get his situation under control. at this point, though, everything was beyond him. "Yeah, I know...," he grunted, his dim eyes focused on something ahead of him that he couldn't really see. His baggy, bloodshot eyes obscured most everything in front of him. "Trust me, I wasn't expecting any of this either," he grimly chuckled, his tone dark and morose. If he knew that his baby sister would have been attacked so brutally, he would have ran, no matter what.

His question was blunt and unexpected, confusing Luci slightly. She probably thought that he was loosing his mind. However, he couldn't help but feel concerned, worried even, for her safety. Although an attack wouldn't happen in broad daylight, he knew it was possible. Luci could never become a monster like him... If only she understood and knew, he thought longfully. Never before had he desired to tell a human his deepest and darkest secret. Little did he know, though, that alcohol would eventually be his unravelling. The small inkling thought of it made him crave that dark substance; he needed to escape his problems, and he would eventually. What time did Luci work till? Like 9? That would give him plenty of time to find his way to the fridge and take a few innocent drinks. He could still watch Skylar while being drunk, right? He'd manage, somehow.

However, he kept the thought of drinking at bay as he considered Luci's safety. "I mean, are you sure?" he attempted to protest. "I don't think sky will be waking up anytime soon. I just... Want to make sure you're okay," he admitted with a sigh. Perhaps he wasn't being careful enough with Luci either. Their entire relationship was a fabrication of lies, and Judd was sick of enforcing them. However, if she knew the truth, what would she do? Deny it, run away screaming, or isolate herself? Either way, it was something that Judd never wanted to find out. His emotions were taking over him, and he had absolutely no idea how to combat them. He detested being so weak in front of Luci, but everything in his life had crashed down on top of him. He felt as if he were suffocating, unable to come to grip with the world, unable to get a grasp on the crazy shit that had gone down.

The age-old saying "bad things happen to good people," was reiterated by Luci. In most circumstances, it would have annoyed Judd to no end. However, anything coming from Luci's lips was like the sweet song of a skylark. Her arms wrapped around him provided much comfort, and in response he sunk his body into her protective arms. He never wanted to move, never wanted to leave her comforting voice. "Y-yeah, I know," he whimpered, feeling close to tears again. He hadn't cried in years - what was wrong with him now. "I just can't help but feel responsible for this. I was always supposed to take care of her, and now..." If only Luci knew how much of his fault this was... However, she also made it clear that Skylar couldn't be left alone. It was true, and Judd would hate to do it. Still, Judd needed to make sure that Luci would be okay. Perhaps he would go out in his wolf form, just to ensure her safety. However, he'd need to agree with her at the moment, in order to fully convince her that he was staying here. Or so she knew. "Yeah, I know Luci. I'll stay here, I know I can't leave her. Just... be careful, alright?"At this, he gave her a small smile, bright green eyes, and an innocent, sweet kiss.

Luci suggested different alternatives to get his mind off things. He'd try them, sure, but he knew that he ultimately would resort to alcohol. The flesh was weak, and he couldn't help but cave in to the temptation that was only a few short steps away. "I'll try, Luci. Don't worry, I can handle this. I don't want any of this to be on your shoulders. This is my problem, not yours. Damn, I never wanted to drag you into any of this." Judd shook his head and sunk more into Luci's comforting presence, as he tried to avoid all the mistakes that he had made and the disaster that he had caused.

Timeskip

It couldn't last forever, and it was time for him to be left alone again. Judd watched in awe as the exhausted girl gathered herself up to put on clothes, makeup, and brush out her hair. His jaw hung open slightly, the exhausted girl that had been sitting with him a few minutes earlier totally transformed. Under no circumstances would Judd be able to do that; he hadn't moved all morning, or even gotten dresses. It was lucid who was the stronger and responsible one. She was standing right in front of him, professional albeit exhausted. "Damn, Luci, you look nice, considering... Well you know." His voice was so awkward and scratchy, Judd feeling like an adolescent, awkward boy coming-of-age. She ran through the house rules, and although it was slightly patronizing, Judd didn't mind. He needed reminding every now and then, especially after the current events had stripped him of all his dignity. "I got it, Luce," he grinned, his baggy eyes half-way open. "You can trust me. She's my sister, I know what to do." he gave a small chuckle at her little joke, the first time he'd laughed in what felt like forever. And with that, Luci left the house, her time card securely in her hand. This left Judd alone, completely and utterly alone.

For the first few minutes, he could do nothing but watch the clock in growing anxiety. "Has she made it yet?" he murmured to himself with his voice wrought with fear. he was set on following her, but now he was too scared to leave his sister alone. He was torn between the two most important people in his life. However, he recognized that his fears were irrational, and that he needed to stay with Skylar. Still, he couldn't assuage his anxieties. Perhaps he should call her? However, as soon as he had the telephone in his hands, he placed it back down. He had to control himself. Cussing softly, he writhed at his obsessive thoughts. "Of course she'll be alright... She just has to walk to work is all. I'm being such an idiot." In order to keep his mind of of Luci and his eyes off of his sister's broken body, Judd grabbed the remote and flicked on the tv. However, nearly all of the channels had something he didn't want to see -- violence. People shooting at each other in high speed chases, people punching each other, all of that jazz. Grumbling to himself, he shut off the black box and placed the remote further away from him. There was nothing that he could do to take his mind off of the disaster. His mind was racing, constantly thinking of what he could have done to prevent his sister's mauling, and Luci's increasing danger. "God dammit," he whimpered, his head placed in his hands. The good thing with Luci being gone, though, was that he could cry. Skylar was dead to the word; there was no conscious soul to be seen. Judd let out a low, mourning howl, his wolf joining in with the sorrow.

It was 7 o'clock, 2 hours before Luci got home. He'd cried, laid motionless, and helped his sister when she was awake. All the time, he had never gotten his mind off of the shit. After one glance at his sister, who had fallen unconscious after a brief asthma attack, he assessed that she wouldn't be needing any assistance for a while. It would be hours until Luci came home, so... Why not? "I deserve it. I know how to control myself," he muttered as he rose from the couch in an attempt to make himself feel better about his disgusting behavior. Opening the fridge with a lurch, the whiskey was in the same spot as it had been the previous night. Hands trembling slightly, Judd took the temptation, regretting every fumbling move he made to pop open the cap. At long last, it was his. Sauntering back to the living room, he drank drop after drop, until there was nothing left of both the drink, and his common sense and soberness. Would Luci have a sight to behold when she returned. The drunk young man sagged back into the couch, his eyes gazing listlessly and his face pained every second he glanced at his bloody, pitiful sister.

Luci

Work had been fairly easy, thankfully. Though it had been a full eight hours of work- the clock was just striking eleven pm- it hadn't run her totally into the ground. Just partially. Luci could feel the exhaustion slowly winding its fingers around her, silently waiting for her to fall prey to it. Snapping her time card into the machine, she bundled up and headed on her way home. The crisp, night air was somewhat rejuvenating to her, helping her stay awake as she trekked home. Luci's thoughts swirled around and threatened to explode out of her. How was Judd holding up? Was Skylar all right? Had that lady at table 4 given her a weird look while she served her? Was her boss always as demanding as he had seemed tonight? Sighing, Luci pulled out her phone to check the time- 11:17. She probably should've called Judd during her break to tell him she was working later than planned- Hopefully he wasn't worried. Hopefully he'd found something to do.

Soon reaching her block, the frazzled girl fumbled through her purse in search of her house key, eventually having to stop under a street lamp to find it. Grasping the cool metal in her fingers, Luci ascended her steps and leaned her forehead against the door, drawing in a deep breath before unlocking it. "I'm home," she called out, taking off her shoes and hanging up her heavy jacket. Not getting a response, she placed her purse down and looked back to see Skylar still passed out on the floor- she almost looked serene. Gazing past, she also saw Judd passed out on the couch. Maybe he's finally catching up on sleep... Luci thought, scuffing over to sit beside him. She was about to gently pat his head when she saw something on the floor in front of him. He'd taken out the whiskey bottle- Even more than that, he'd consumed the entirety of what had been left. "You're f*cking kidding me..." Luci grumbled, snatching the bottle and placing it upright on the coffee table. When she'd told him to find something to do, clearly she hadn't meant get drunk. Out of all the books he could've read and movies he could've watched, he'd went and found the whiskey.

Luci wasn't really angry with him- she was annoyed. Disappointed, even. The girl had hoped that he'd make the mature decision to not get drunk, but she had been wrong. Judd's immaturity annoyed her to no end. A girl as mature as she could only handle someone as immature as him for so long. Sighing, she stood up to get some tea for herself- She'd address the situation in a few minutes. First, she needed some peppermint tea. While making the hot drink, Luci's mind whirred. What was she going to do with Judd? If all he was going to do was sit around and drink while she was gone, she wasn't going to have that. However, she couldn't just kick him out. As a friend, that'd be rude. Blowing on her tea, Luci trudged back into the living room and sat on the couch, hitting Judd's face slightly to wake him up.

"Judd, wake up," she urged, "I'm home." Once he was slightly responsive, his eyes fluttering, Luci grabbed the whiskey bottle and dangled it in front of his face. "I see you found the whiskey," she chided, her tone eerily nonchalant. "I'm disappointed, y'know," she sighed, standing up, "because I thought you'd have enough self-discipline to not do it. But you did. Don't you care about your sister's well-being?" Luci asked, looking down at the limp girl. "She needs you, and if I'm not here you need to be able to help her," Luci demanded, turning back to Judd with an unreadable look in her eyes. Luci's eyes were trying to hide her exhaustion, and having to confront Judd about his drinking problem was the last thing she wanted to do, but it had to be done.

Judd

He'd drowned himself and left his mind for waste. Liquor rimmed his eyes and desires, his face slackened and unmistakably drunk. There were different kinds of drunks: happy, singing ones, angry ones, throwing-up-all-over-yourself-ones, and sad ones. Judd was the latter, and despite experiencing every other form, emotion, or sensation of drunkess, the feelings of depression and helplessness glowed through him. Never before had he felt so defeated, so helpless in the destructive path of life. Judd absentmindedly rubbed the bottle in his hands, as if he was trying to get a drink genie to give him one last drop of the substance. The substance that usually helped him escape only slapped him further with life's strong douse of depression. He couldn't take his eyes off his sister, and he couldn't take his mind off Luci. God, she'd be so disappointed. How would the both of them handle it? Judd willed for himself not to become angry, but... What if he broke?

The fumbling of the key in the lock made him jump to his feet. Staggering slightly as he held onto the couch of the arm, he stared down the slowly swinging door. It was either Luci, or someone else. If it was the pack again, he'd be ready to destroy them. However, it was just Luci, looking exhausted and frazzled. A relieved smile crossed his face as he saw her, in one pice and well. She'd been a whole hour late, something that had driven him to pieces. That was when he'd downed most of his drink too, to try ad calm himself down. "Luci, hey," he slurred, clearly intoxicated. He winced as Luci let out a mumble of a curse and placed the bottle upright on the table. Oh shit, he'd done it now. when she turned to him though, her face was surprisingly cam. Perhaps she'd let him off easy? However, the female mind was something Judd would never understand. A paradox, the angrier a woman was, the calmer her demeanor appeared.

Looking down, feeling ashamed of himself, he allowed Luci to speak. She went through the whole routine -- she was so disappointed in him, blah, blah, blah. Normally, he would have let her continue. However, when she brought his sister into the picture, that was it. A sudden shift from an ashamed, embarrassed drunken man to an angry one made its way through his mind. Eyes flashing a brighter shade, he jerked his head up suddenly. He needed to "take care of his sister," according to Luci. This statement was astute, but, hadn't he already? There was no stopping his sharp mouth, and with the curl of his lip, the light in the room seemed to darken. Stretching out, the normally short man somehow grew in size, or at least in presence. There was something dark in the room, as the beast started to take over his mind and speech.

"My sister's well-being?" he echoed, his voice low and rough. "You think I don't care about that?" By the minute, he was growing angrier and more powerful. He made his way across the floor to Luci, without making a sound. However, his face was not at all inviting or kind. It was cold, hard, and set. His eyes, a brighter shade of green than ever before, flickered and snapped. "Let me tell you a little story, Luci. There's a lot that you don't seem to know about me." His voice was slow and condescending, mean and uncaring. At this point, it wasn't 100% him talking. The alcohol and wolf had taken over his mind, his body a simple slave to what was about to go down. He wasted no time and launched into his speech. "My sister has always been sick. Always. From allergies and asthma to illness and injury, she's had it all. And what do you think my worthless father was doing all the time? Yeah, sure, he loved us, and Skylar most of all. Half the time, though, he was off with some woman or at the bar, leaving us virtually alone. Who do you think was tasked with the job of keeping her safe?" At this rhetorical question, he took another step forward. Now, he was almost up against Luci, but just far away enough. He laid his hand on her cheek, but it was in now way a loving gesture.

"So," he went on,"do you think I was incapable then? Hell, she wasn't supposed to even last this long. And once again, another rhetorical question for you. Do you think I was sober that entire time? Hell no, not even close. In fact, one night when she was having one of her worst asthma attacks, I was so drunk that I could barley see straight. But guess who managed to call 911 and save her life? Me. Who carried her after she took a bad fall, despite being so drunk themselves? Me. Who stayed up with her all night when she was sick, as high as a kite? Me. So don't even fucking start there Luci. No matter what state of mind I'm in, I have always been capable of helping her." Except for now, the dirty little voice reminded him. And it wasn't because he was drunk. It was like that though. Instead of alcohol, it was Luci that consumed his thoughts. This little reminder caused him to step back. He was loosing his mind.

However, the anger remained; she was tired, and so was he. But how dare she accuse him of not giving proper care to his sister? "Listen, I know exactly what I'm doing. You have no right to tell me how to live my life. I know your mother's sick and all, but this is different. You aren't the sole person responsible for her health, safety, and well-being. You have a dad, friends, and an actual doctor. Unfortunately, I don't have those luxuries." His face took on a deep shadow, almost conveying the loss and fear that he felt. However, the anger reigned. He straightened, looking the girl stone cold in the eyes. His drunk eyes, the angry ones that his sober mind never wanted her to see. "Go on Luci. I'm a man of many secrets. Keep pressing me and you might discover them. I warn you, though, you won't like what you find." This was a direct challenge; perhaps she'd finally learn who he was, and see his true colors. In between their distance, the seams of their relationship were ripping, just as the clock and Skylar's raspy breaths filled the silence that would soon be Luci's response.

Luci

Though she hadn't particularly meant to, Luci quickly realized that she'd said the wrong thing to Judd. His entire demeanor shifted within seconds and left her slightly worried. The girl hadn't meant to rile him up- Maybe make him annoyed, but not make him completely angry. Luci's eyes narrowed as he leaped up from the couch and strode across the room to where she stood, near the front door. Judd's face was made of stone, but his eyes flickered with a dangerous fire that Luci had never seen before. Something in her gut told her 'be careful, he's dangerous, get away,' but her mind said 'don't let him make you feel inferior- show him who's the boss here.' Judd's sly voice pecked at her ears as she stood glaring at him. Thankfully Luci was taller than he was, but even with that being true she nearly felt as if he was growing and she was stuck in place. His 'story' could barely be heard in Luci's mind over the screaming from her conscience, the slow escalating of her heartbeat. Luci knew that Judd had always cared for his sister- He'd told her more than once. 'I never said you never took care of her, just that you being drunk doesn't help,' she retorted in her mind, not daring to utter the words. Judd's hand came up and rested on her cheek in a menacing manner- Luci would have welcomed this gesture not even a day ago, but now she sparked. "Don't fucking touch me!" Luci seethed, violently swatting Judd's hand away.

Judd continued on, rambling about how he was drunk for most of the time that he cared for Skylar. "Just because you cared for her when you were drunk doesn't mean being drunk is okay," Luci flatly said, as if he should already know. She was quite surprised to learn how much he'd been taking care of his sister, yet even more surprised at how he did it while being drunk out of his mind. In Luci's mind, however, she viewed it as being weak, as if the only way for him to take care of Skylar was to be drunk. Anger swirled in Luci's mind, rushing through her veins. As Judd stepped back, she stepped forward. She wasn't backing down now. Judd's eyes locked dead with hers, causing something in Luci to sizzle and snap.

"Are you challenging me?" She asked darkly, narrowing her eyes. Luci wasn't about to back down- If Judd wanted a challenge, she would give him a challenge, and Luci never played to lose. "You're weak, Judd! You're weak! Whether or not you took care of your sister, you put your needs in front of hers," she fired, eyes ablaze. "Sure, you took care of Skylar. You did, truthfully. But you did it while drunk. You placed your need for alcohol above her need for basic help. A good sibling doesn't place his needs before his sister's when she needs his help. That," she paused, "makes you weak." The girl was practically shouting now, hands flailing as she spewed words from every corner of her mind. Though it would kill him to hear it, she had finally said what Judd already knew but refused to admit. Luci knew something was wrong because after she said those words, she didn't feel bad. She felt empowered. "How's that for a press?" She rhetorically asked, staring Judd down. Her mind screamed that she'd made a mistake, and her gut along with it, but Luci felt good. Luci's love for Judd had been pressed down by her competitive nature, fueled by the anger that she never even knew she had. Her mind knew she'd made a mistake, but her pride was only interested in being the alpha of the fighting pair.

Judd

He hated how he was acting -- Luci was feeling threatened, the fear and unease clearly registered on her face. However, he just couldn't sop. Everything was threatening to bubble out of him; he was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. When he touched her, it was no surprise how he acted back. Still she was a fighter, part of this serving to make Judd enraged further and the other satisfied to know that he could still duke it out with her. His hand was swatted away, and although it didn't bring any physical pain, the emotional pain clearly registered in his eyes. His drunken ramble did little to impact her as well. She was still firm in her stance on his drinking. In his heart, Judd agreed with her. It was selfish and stupid to drink himself to death when other people needed him. However, admitting it would be the ultimate weakness. He had to make himself feel better about his audacious behavior, brush it off as if it were nothing. Admitting this problem would also connect him to his father. He was his father's son, the son of a drunk. He hated to be anything like the parent who had neglected him in his youth... But he had inherited the desire for alcohol.

He truly struck a chord with her now. Her eyes flashed and she narrowed her eyes. Now was where she lost it. She was in the fight, well invested and set to win. Her words were like daggers to Judd's skin, digging in and stripping away the facade of intoxication. Deep within, he was just a desperate, weak, and addicted young man. She saw right through him, right through his desperate attempt to seem strong and cool. Weak, weak, weak... That's how she saw him, and rightly so. There was nothing to obscure her vision. She was so right, too... He did place his desire to drink in front of Skylar. He placed all of his desires before her, including Luci. That's what got Skylar into this whole mess. He just couldn't stop himself. But he hated to admit it, refuse to admit it. Anger seethed from him, his cheeks growing red and his eyes sparking. "You think I'm weak Luci? You fucking think I'm weak? I'll show you weak." His dark aura seemed to grow in his anger, and soon he felt the adrenaline and crazed rage of a shift. His pule churned through him, his voice grew into low growl, and he felt his canines extending. When drunk, he lost all semblance of control. He couldn't hold it back any longer; he was breaking all ancient laws and traditions. Werewolves were not to shift in front of humans, and the penalty was often death for both parties. Tonight however, he was showing his true colors. Luci would finally see the reasons for his strange behavior and actions, whether she liked it or not.

Judd let out an animalistic howl as he felt the pain pounding throughout his body. Contrary to popular folklore, shifting was not a painless process. It was agonizing, with bones snapping and reforming within one's body, and organs and ligaments altering to fit within a new body. A bright flash of light enveloped Judd as he shifted into this supernatural creature. There was no stopping a shift once it begun, and there was no way he could keep this from Luci any longer. She'd been so kind, so wonderful and supportive, and this was how he was paying her back. However, maybe the truth was the best thing. Severely intoxicated, his wolf form was ten times more dangerous, the desire to rip tear and kill seething from it. After the painful process commenced, there was now a jet-black, snarling, and huge wolf in Luci's apartment. It was as if a spell had broken; Judd's shift had triggered Skylar's as well, and in place of the pale, fragile girl was a heavily panting, unconscious, and tan bloody wolf. However, his new form wasn't foreign to Luci. She's seen him like this before, calm and observant. Now, however, he was anything but. The massive creature was snarling, teeth bore, and prowling closer to Luci. He still retained his ability to speak, but now it was different. His low, dark voice crept into her head, the wolf's mouth forming no words. This was direct telepathy, and Judd was easily able to find his way into her mind.

“I warned you Luci. I fucking warned you. Well, I guess the jig is up. I'm a werewolf, bitch." His mind had no filter, and he uttered something that he hoped he'd never say. However, there was no stopping now. His human nature desperately tried to control the animal that was his other half, but sometimes his wolf took on a personality of its own. “That's right. I am the creature embedded in folklores, the creature small children and adults alike fear. I can rip, tear, and kill. I won't hesitate when challenged." At his, he took a snap in her direction, ever inching closer. The beast's massive sides heaved, a manic glow in its eyes. Black hackles raised and fangs parted, he was absolutely horrifying. "You've seen me like this before. You've had your suspicious, and now you know. You know that I could pulverize you, just like my pack did to my sister. All of my interaction with you has been forbidden. This is why I got into fights; this is why my little sister is bleeding to death. All because of you." Memories invaded his mind; sweet kisses from Luci, cuddling, deep midnight conversations. She had always been there for him, despite the struggles that came from their semi-relationship. It was worth it.

The wolf stopped, mere inches away from Luci. He could bite her and kill, but he'd always love her. He would not allow himself to be a monster. Fully aware that his drunk outburst and transformation into a freaking wolf wrecked anything, he stopped. There was no glossing over this. He'd ruined everything, but he could still ensure her safety. Stepping back, the wolf bowed its head as Judd began to take control of his mind and body again. Letting out a small yelp of pain, Judd started to shift back into his human body. After several agonizing moments, he was sitting on the ground. Eyes blazed with shame, he couldn't bear to look up at her. Skylar remained in her wolf form, too weak to shift back. "Oh my god, Luci... I'm so sorry. I never intended for you to find out that way." He couldn't stay any longer. He was a treat to Luci, a threat to anyone he met. Shakily picking himself up, still drunk and stumbling, he made his way to his unconscious, wolfish sister. It was time to leave; he could never do that to Luci again. She'd be beyond belief, confused, and stunned. Perhaps he could pass everything off as a dream. God knows he wanted to.

Luci

Luci's brows furrowed as she felt a sudden shift in the air. Something darker, more sinister had settled and caused the hair on the back of her neck to spike. Judd refuted her accusations of him being weak, growing angrier as each second passed on the clock. Before Luci could say anything else, Judd was thrown to the ground in a howling, convulsing heap. Eyes widening, the confused girl threw herself against the wall as she watched on in terror and confusion. What the hell was happening? Howls ripped through Judd's body, his ligaments stretching and snapping. After some moments of frozen terror, Luci's eyes were met with the sight of a large, jet-black wolf. Sharp canines gleamed, ready to tear through her flesh as if she were a simple blade of grass. The girl remained so stunned that she barely noticed Skylar transform from an unconscious girl to a small, unconscious wolf as well. As the wolf snarled and panted, Luci's mind raced for logical explanations of the situation. Judd's gone. A wolf is trying to kill me. Judd isn't Judd anymore. He's a wolf. How is he a wolf? Werewolves aren't real. But I don't know what else to say. He's got to be a werewolf... but that's not logical. Luci's eyes shot open even wider as a memory sneaked into her mind: She was in the forest, watching a black shadow, slowly approaching it. It whirled around and stared at her, then darting away into the deep woods. "Y-you're the wolf..." she whispered, shaking.

In response, Luci's head began to pound as words slithered into her mind. They sounded like Judd, but much more menacing. She covered her ears with her hands as if it would rid of the voices. Luci didn't even feel herself screaming, hoping that she could drown them out. Fangs snapped in her direction, causing her to scream louder and cringe at the wolf's rancid breath. The voices continued to claw her mind, taunting her, snarling that everything was her fault. It yelled, cursed, mocked, blamed, killed. Then it was gone. Luci slid to the floor, hands clasped around her head to ease the throbbing pain. Everything made sense now- Why Judd was always bruised, why he lived in the woods, why she couldn't go near his home, why he called his land a territory, why he was so skittish when it came to certain topics. Luci couldn't even look up to meet the wolf's glare, but she felt its breath on her. A short silence enveloped the room as the wolf seemed to calm, followed by a short yelp of pain.

The dark presence in the room faded, yet Luci didn't have the energy to get up. Her body felt numb. She couldn't even feel the tears on her cheeks, staining her shirt. A soft voice spoke, but it felt like a canon blowing in Luci's mind. Was the voice in her head or was someone actually speaking? Feet shuffled, something was knocked to the floor, and Luci finally summoned enough courage to look up from her spot on the ground. Judd was gathering his things and getting ready to leave. After another few minutes, he turned to look at her, and Luci felt a scream rise in her throat. Each time she looked at Judd, she couldn't see anything except for the menacing wolf he'd shown her. Judd had cracked her. The light in Luci's eyes had flickered out, replaced by a dull shadow of fear and emptiness. Her light hair was plastered to her face by salty tears, her cheeks blotchy. She felt entirely drained.

"Please... just go," she croaked, voice hoarse from previous screaming. She needed Judd to leave so that she could think. Luci hated to say it, but a part of her never wanted to see him again. Maybe she could pretend that this was a dream, that she had never met him and that she was still a normal college student. She could pretend that she hadn't just seen something that most regarded as a myth. She could pretend that the guy she loved wasn't some f*cked up, crazy animal hybrid. Who was she kidding? Judd's terrifying wolf form was etched into her mind forever. Maybe if Luci could forget about Judd, never see him again, then the memories would deteriorate. That's what she needed. She loved Judd, but her sanity was more important. As Judd walked past her towards the front door, Luci flinched, hiccuping. Her heart cracked as he walked away, and she could almost hear his cracking, too.

Judd

He'd ruined everything, and nothing would ever be the same. He had shifted into the monster, scaring the life out of Luci. As a wolf, her screams only nourish his anger and desire for bloodlust, but as soon as he was human again, they now shattered his heart. Tears streaked her face and she now stared at him wordlessly, her body up against the wall in fear. For a long moment, Judd just stared at her terrified face in utter self-hatred. He'd done this to her, after all of her help and emotional support. What a piece of utter shit he was. Unable to look at her fear-ridden face, he turned around and began gathering up all his things. God bless for deep pockets; all medicine was shoved into them, leaving him able to pick up the wolf of Skylar. His shift had triggered hers, which made things somewhat easier for Judd. He'd be able to walk through the streets and pass off as some sort of hunter -- carrying a bloody wolf could be explained, but a girl? No way. He tried his best to think about other things as he prepared to leave, but an intense pain had filled his chest. Sorrow and shame coursed through him; he knew he would never be able to see Luci again. She'd never want to see him again, and for good reasons. He could have killed her; he was the danger. Picking up Skylar tenderly as she let out a small whine, Judd quickly made his way to the door. He couldn't give Luci any sort of decent apology -- he could barley speak without crying. This was greater pain than any fight he'd been in, greater than bleeding or broken bones. The sappy love stories were true -- the pain of a broken heart is greater than any other. Leaving her just as quickly as he came, Judd walked off into the darkness, feeling more empty and alone than he had ever felt before.

Timeskip

Weeks on end had gone by, and the two had not spoken a single word. Any sort of relationship that they possessed had been demolished after that one terrible night. In an effort to change himself, he hadn't touched a bottle of alcohol in two weeks. The effects were taking place; he felt physically better and mentally alter. However, this meant that he was alone with his crippling emotions, as well as his crippled sister. Finding a place to live had not been easy. He had no options of returning to the pack after his betrayal, nor did he want to. For a week, he and his sister lived in alleyways, her condition ever worsening. They had no money, no home, no medicine, nothing. Judd had been able to beg a motel owner for a room; it costed $150 a week, quite expensive considering it was such a dump. There was no furniture to be had, save for a ratty couch, a table, and a decrepit television set. It was only one room, not including a small and unsanitary bathroom. Skylar took the couch, obviously, and Judd made a little mound of blankets for himself in the corner. This was his fifth day of staying in this forsaken place, and already the landlord was breathing down his neck. Judd needed to give him money in two days, yet he was $100 short. All the rest of the money had gone to Skylar's medicine and their food. Working in a fast food restaurant didn't pay much, and with no GED, that was the only option the werewolf had.

Working long shifts and taking care of Skylar afterwards, Judd had very little time to himself. However, in the brisk morning air and pale sunlight, he found time to himself. Short walks rejuvenated his sense of peace and kept him sane throughout the turmoil. However, in this time when his mind was unoccupied, he could think about Luci. Although it brought great pain, it comforted him in a sense. All he hoped was that she was safe and still sane. He never would meet her again; however, his dreams were filled with her, longing for her soft lips, sweet voice, and captivating personality. He loved her, and he was certain of it now. However, she probably hated him with a passion. It was just after dawn, time for Judd's walk. His breath materialized in the air and the wind tugged softly at his cheeks. There was no sound to be heard, save the rushing of occasional cars. He was utterly alone, and everything that his eyes fell upon reminded him of Luci.

Checking his watch, he saw that it was almost time for his shift. Luci works so much, I wonder if she's on for today? He pushed this lone thought away with great insistence. "No, I can't do that. Dumbass, if she sees you, she'll either scream or call the police. She hates you; you're a monster." Judd had begun talking to himself, and although it looked somewhat crazy, it was the only way to stay sane. There was no one to talk to, with his sister so injured and mainly unconscious. Now, Judd realized that Luci was truly his only friend. As the snow lightly fell on his grungy hair and dirty clothes, it did little to cleanse his mind. Utterly depressed and anxious, he needed something. He was worried about Luci. Surly checking in on her at work would be okay? He'd slip in and slip out, without her noticing. He was stealthy, and with his haggard appearance (now he was sporting a beard and dark eyes), as well as his dark clothes, she wouldn't even be able to recognize him. His most significant feature, his bright jade eyes that gave him his Luci nickname, were now dulled and glassy.

It was as if he had no control over his body. Mindlessly, his feet began to pull him towards the place where he knew so well. There was plenty of time to spare before his first shift, and he had ensured that Skylar was as comfortable as possible before he left. He'd get a glimpse of Luci, and then go. What could go wrong? The cold air burned his throat and the ice sunk trough his thin and dirty socks. His jeans and black shirt were dirty, as he possessed little other clothing. A wild appearance had taken on him; his beard was scruffy, as he hadn't shaved for weeks. His normally spiked hair was flat, oily, and totally gross. There was little time for showers, as well as little money. He took them every few days, as he had to stay somewhat groomed for his job. This was the best he could do, and if Luci caught him looking like this, he would die. He looked like a homeless man, not the attractive and mysterious guy she'd come to know.

He arrived at the destination, heart pounding and fingers trembling. His stomach was in knots, unable to calm down. Would he see her? Would she see him? Judd tried to look in from the window, but it was too fogged and icy to see anything but shapes and blurred colors. He'd have to step in, just for a moment. If anyone asked questions, he'd just say that he was looking, then leave. However, he had no plan if Luci happened to see him. If that were to occur, he'd just want the floor to swallow him. Taking a deep breath, he cringed and reached out his palms. Tentatively the numbed fingers worked the door and opened it. This triggered the bell above to ring, signifying that there was a customer.

"Damn," he cussed, his eyes narrowing and falling to the ground. He hated those things; now, any sort of quiet arrival was impossible. An employee welcomed him, which he acknowledged with a grunt. The only person that he wanted to see was Luci. He ignored whatever sale the employee babbled about and looked behind the counter at the baristas. Most of them had their heads turned, so it was hard to tell if she was even there. However, the glistening of dark hair and her smooth voice proved that she was there. He stood there, her voice and presence and oasis for his soul. If he could just see her face... However, as she started to turn towards a customer, Judd quickly turned away. He needed to get out now, before he was recognized. However, his feet just wouldn't let him; his heart yearned for the only girl that he'd ever loved.

Luci

Luci had been pretty shaken up after Judd shifted in front of her. That night she sat curled up on the couch, staring at the wall as her mind consumed her. What? Why? What? How? had plagued her thoughts for days on end. She saw a dog on TV and almost cried. She stayed far away from the woods. Whenever Coldplay came on, she fumbled to turn it off. Her eyes lost their glimmer. She packed a suitcase and stayed at her parents' house for a few days. She chopped her hair. Her formerly long locks now brushed just below her shoulders, still as thick and mousy-brown as ever. Some would say that cutting one's hair is a sign of letting go of a traumatic experience, but Luci would never admit that.

Slowly, slowly, Luci began piecing herself back together. It started with engulfing herself in her classes and resuming her work schedule. Almost a week and a half after the 'incident,' Luci moved back into her place. The house still carried a piece of Judd with it, but Luci tried her best to ignore it. She spent much of her free time painting, cranking out one after the other. Luci was getting back on track, taking control of her life once again. She felt... good. Almost. Sometimes something would cause her to fold into her own mind for a few moments, a troubled expression washing over her face. One time a customer ordered a pumpkin spice latte and thoughts of her and Judd's coffee dates swarmed into her mind the rest of the day. She was all right, but some things never go away.

On an oddly cold morning, Luci was scheduled for work. Snow swirled outside of the cafe windows as the winds caused the cafe's sign to ripple. There wasn't a multitude of customers, just the usual morning few. Luci worked the walk-up counter today, brewing endless pots of coffee. The aroma brought her a sense of calm as she chatted with Simon and Janie, two of her co-workers. There was a lull in coffee requests, so the three had nothing to do. As they shot the breeze, the front door's tinny bell chimed. Luci had been inclined to look, but became distracted by Janie's funny story that she'd been telling. At the punch line, Luci's laugh rang out so loud that she had to cover her mouth, eyes darting from one patron to the next to make sure that no one had heard her. Just then, one of the other waiters popped in and asked for her to bring some coffee to a older couple seated by the front. "Sure, decaf or full?" Luci asked. Brewing another pot of coffee posed no problem, and when he responded, Luci pressed the decaf button. Hot liquid spurted into the coffee pot as Luci drummed her fingers on the counter. Lifting the full pot off of the heater, she wove her way through tables until the reached the front.

As she approached the table, her eye caught sight of someone standing stoically in the corner. The man looked like one of the truck drivers that passed through Warrod en route to some Canadian city. Luci was about to look away when the man accidentally met her gaze. His eyes were glassy, but nothing could disguise the eyes that she'd known so well. Luci's hands fumbled with the coffee pot, hot liquid dripping down the side and onto her hand. She couldn't feel the burning. Judd's eyes had grown wide in unison with hers. If it weren't for his eyes, which were already fairly dull, she wouldn't have known that Judd was the man standing in front of her. He looked... well, terrible. His dark hair sat limply on his head, matted by grease. A scruffy beard covered his normally defined jawline. Loose clothing draped over his body. A wild, yet defeated look was etched into his face. Placing the coffee pot down onto the table with a weak 'sorry' to the couple, Luci faced Judd. Her bright green eyes were wider than ever, filled with a frozen look. Under the sheer shock sat confusion, anger, fear and even a bit of what had been love. A piece of Luci's heart jumped while another seemed to stop.

"H-Hey..." she greeted awkwardly, barely above a whisper. Luci's lips felt dry. Her slender fingers moved to tuck her short hair behind her ear, a subconscious nervous tick. Judd looked like he wanted the floor to swallow him. She wanted the same thing. "Uh, how are you?" she asked. Her mind screamed at her for being so dumb. Obviously Judd wasn't doing well. All of Luci's work to compose herself over the past few weeks seemed to unravel. She wanted to cry, scream, run, jump into Judd's arms. Images of 'Judd' snarling at her and images of them cuddling played side-by-side in her mind. Something inside of Luci was crumbling, her knees weak. Her hand grasped an empty chair. "Do-do you wanna talk? Outside?" She whispered, voice cracking. Luci really didn't want to talk- what was there to talk about?- but something told her that they should. "And... um, I can like, y'know, get some coffee for you? Like a PSL or... y'know, something like that?" She offered, continuously stumbling over her words as they streamed out. Luci's mind felt like it was shutting down from all of the mixed thoughts and emotions. Was she happy? Was she sad? Was she scared? Was she relieved? She was definitely shocked to say the least. Seeing Judd hadn't been in her get-better plan, but something about it wasn't all that terrible.
