name: Rebecca Michaelson
nickname: occasionally, she's called Bec
gender: female
age: twenty-one
hair: long; blonde
eyes: a muted blue color
skin: pale
build: short in height, Rebecca is built lean and slender.
a hunter's diet is not exactly nutritious in that meals are few
and far between. they have better things to do with their time
than to worry about consuming three hearty meals a day.
so, as such, she is rather lithe.
personality: observant and reserved, she prefers to feel out a situation
before engaging in it. Rebecca is a tough individual, as is custom of hunters,
who prefers to dwell in the silence rather than throw herself into a conversation
she is unsure of. she has a quick wit that is often put to the use, a silver tongue
that has often gotten her in trouble throughout her entire lifetime. rebellious,
Rebecca doesn't necessarily follow the rules stated by either hunter or human.
she does things at her own pace in her own way, with little regard about what
other people might say about it. also, she is quite protective in that she would
do most anything to keep the few she holds dear safe. being a hunter, this
could possibly imply drastic measures depending upon the situation.
history: not a surprise, Rebecca's mother was killed by a vampire while her
father was away. she was left alone due to her small size (being a small child at
the time), but the thought of her mother's death was forever embedded in her
vision. her father felt the guilt for this, and turned to drinking - which inevitably
led to his death. this spurred Rebecca to take on the life as a vampire hunter.

Miles Upshur
Male; Appears 22; Actually 93; Vampire

Miles is a lean but muscular person who is fairly tall, but not abnormally so. He has fair skin, short dark hair that tends to be slightly messy, and some stubble that makes him look like either a grubby college student or perhaps a very attractive hobo. He often wears an old, long coat and a mis-matched scarf, even if it's not all that cold outside. The stereotype that vampires have to dress nice and be cool, collected killers really doesn't apply to him. In fact, he finds it easier to dress down so that he can fit in with regular people or people in slums and alleys depending on what meal might be easier to get. Like all vampires, he has a pair of fangs which can retract further into his gums so they aren't so obvious when he isn't hunting.

Miles is a generally unassuming person who most people don't really pay attention to, and he strives to keep it that way. No one sees a wallflower as a threat. Miles is a good hunter. He knows which people would be easy to ambush and when there's an opportune moment to strike. He knows which people won't likely be believed when they come to the authorities with a story about being attacked by a monster. Miles tries to leave his victims alive as far as he can to avoid rousing the town to a manhunt, and he tries not to repeat his old patterns so that the police don't decide that there must be a serial killer/mugger on the loose. It's difficult, but he knows he has to do it to survive.

While he may be an intelligent hunter, Miles is no criminal mastermind nor is he a good fighter when he doesn't have the element of surprise. When confronted with a fight, his general strategy is to run, even if it makes him seem like a coward. He'd rather be called a coward and live than be called brave and die. When he isn't hunting or fighting, Miles is generally a pleasant person, though he tends to be sarcastic and snarky towards people he doesn't like. He'll often antagonize those he doesn't like, even if it's in his best interest to keep his mouth shut. To those he likes, he's still a little twit, but it's more affectionate teasing than malicious.

Miles was born in 1922 in Nevada. His life was pretty normal and uneventful for the most part. His family was well off so the Depression didn't hit them as hard as it hit others. Things really got interesting in 1941 when the United States joined World War II. Miles decided to enlist in the army and got shipped out to the Pacific to fight on that front. It was in the forests of those islands that he had his first encounter with a vampire. Fighting had broken out in an area where a small coven of vampires had made their home. Miles' squad stumbled upon them while they were trying to flee and they attacked in self defense. Miles was supposed to die that day, but somehow during the fight with the vampires he got the blood of one in his mouth and he turned.

At first Miles didn't know what had happened to him and he thought perhaps he'd just gotten lucky or maybe he'd imagined the whole thing. When he returned to base, he was a wreck. He got put in the infirmary since he looked downright sick. He stayed there a few days without incident, but on the third night the thirst for blood hit him. Without even thinking he attacked a wounded soldier and killed him. Once he realized what he'd done he fled and smuggled himself aboard a ship that was leaving. He ended up traveling around, hiding and running and trying to figure out what to do. He ended up in Hawaii where he met another vampire who explained to him what happened and how to control himself. He stayed with her and her coven for a while until he decided that he wanted to go back home. He's been traveling around the US ever since, avoiding making friends who might figure out what he is. Sometimes he visits the Hawaiian vampires, but he often doesn't have the money to afford a plane ticket.

(Sounds good to me. I suppose I'll get us started.)

Miles

Tonight was not a good night for hunting. Saturday nights never were. At least, they weren't if you were smart. Honestly, with all the people out someone was bound to see you if you attacked anyone. Sure the drunks after midnight were easy prey, but honestly Miles wasn't sure it was worth it. If you wanted to survive, you blended in and thought before sinking your fangs into someone who just stumbled out of a bar. Besides, most people couldn't stand up to the strength of a vampire, drunk or not. So instead of hunting, Miles decided that since tonight was warm, he would take a walk. After all, he didn't have much else to do. That ended up being a mistake.

"Hey, Upshur!"
Miles froze.
Shit.
"Come on Upshur, aren't you going to say hi?"
Miles did a half turn and looked behind him. Yep, just as he thought. It was that gang of thugs that liked to hang out around here. He was hoping that they were off drinking themselves silly on some wasted homeless person, but no such luck.
"Nice night, huh?" Miles said.
"Don't try to flatter me with small talk," the leader said, "What are you doing on our turf? Tryin' to steal our kills?"
"Nah, I'm not really into dumpster diving."
"Excuse you? You don't get to get sassy with me, punk. Not while you're in my domain."
Miles tensed as the group started to advance towards him. There were about four of them. There was no way he was going to be able to take all of them. Time to get out of here. He turned and started to walk away, but he should have known it wouldn't be that easy.

One of the beefier guys grabbed him and pulled him back, slamming him into the group with more force than was really necessary.
"No, no, no, I don't think so," the leader said, "Boys, I think we need to show this rat what happens to people who come in our territory and think they own the place."
Miles punched the beefy guy in the mouth which sent the bigger vampire reeling. Then he broke loose and ran down an alley. He was fast, but one of the thugs was faster. As he broke out into a sprint at speeds only vampires were capable of, something slammed into him. He and the thug crashed into a wall, cracking bricks and breaking off flakes of paint. Once the thug had Miles pinned, the rest of the gang attacked.

(I have to go but I'll be back in about an hour-ish.)

Post  red; Tue Jan 27, 2015 1:11 am

The weekend was as difficult a time for hunting as it was easy. It was difficult because there were a lot more people out and about at late hours than during the week, as no one had to be up at an early hour in the morning. Because of this, humans partied and went to bars, clogging up the sidewalks in spurts, enjoying their life and their temporary freedom from commitment. The extra activity seemed to draw out vampires, but made hunting discreetly a little problematic. But on the same note, it could be considered easy because of the fact that it lured out some of the vampires who planned on taking advantage of the extra number of humans. So although it provided more opportunities to hunt, doing so was made difficult because it was obviously in the best interest of the hunters to remain inconspicuous. That wasn't exactly an easy task depending on the weekend.
However, Rebecca had a duty to perform and thus spent her evening out scouting her turf. Since there were several hunters in the surrounding areas, some of them had set up their own little territories. Since Rebecca preferred to stay detached from the main group of hunters, she had her own territory and worked by herself. She still had times of running into the other hunters and speaking with them, but she didn't appreciate their constant company. So she kept herself separated from them.

Right now, Rebecca was off towards some semi-secluded part of town that was set a little bit away from the main gathering point for the drunken humans. She was keeping an eye out for the vampires who might be awaiting some wandering drunk person - and she definitely found for herself a vampire. Many vampires, actually.
Surveying the current situation, it only took a second for Rebecca to get a grasp on what was going on. It seemed that a group of vampires was targeting a single vampire. Sighing quietly, Rebecca decided to intervene, since a fight among vampires was often more dangerous than a vampire preying upon a human.
Blessed blades, wooden bullets - these were very good weapons for scaring off vampires. And that was what Rebecca did. She threw a few throwing knives, blessed by a priest for the purpose of warding off vampires, and fired off some wooden bullets. Of course, the vampires planned on fighting back, and Rebecca found herself in a bit of a squirmish with a few of them. But, again, she had wooden bullets and those things could really damage a vampire.
In a span of time that felt very short and yet very long, Rebecca had successfully managed to chase off the group of vampires, having injured enough of them to send them running. However, she did not get out of the fight absolutely fine. She was suffering from several bruising punches and cuts, but none of which were fatal or enough for a hospital visit. Besides, her attention was focused on the other vampire right now anyway.

(( okay ^^ ))

Miles

There wasn't much that could damage a vampire, but other vampires just happened to be one of those things. As the gang set upon him, they hit and kicked him of course, but it was the bites that really hurt. Even through his coat they drew blood and ripped gashes open on his shoulders and torso. He tried to fight them off and leave them with a few bites of their own, but it was hard when you had four vamps all attacking you at once.

Then he heard gunshots and the whistle of blades through the air.
A hunter.
As a few of the gang members became distracted, Miles took the opportunity to kick away the last one who slammed into a dumpster and then scurried away. The others followed suit, clutching burning knife wounds and bleeding from the wooden bullets. Miles sat against the wall, frozen and watching as the hunter managed to chase them all away. Then her attention turned to him.

I'm dead. She's going to kill me.
He knew in his state he couldn't fight her off, especially since she just took out four of his kind with only a few bruises to show for it. He sat up a bit straighter, grimacing and holding a particularly nasty gash on his stomach.
"Sorry I'm going to be such an easy kill," he said.

Rebecca's attention was concentrated on the vampire who had appeared to be a sort of scapegoat for the other vampires. Currently, he was wounded and bleeding as a result of their torment, and she had to wonder what he might have done to deserve such a beating. Perhaps he hadn't done anything at all, and this was just the vampires having a bit of cruel 'fun'. Either way, she was curious as she ventured closer to the vampire, not feeling too cautious since it was obvious he wasn't in the proper physical state for fighting her.
Her own body ached in several places from the fight with the other vampires - mostly her arms and sides - but it wasn't anything she hadn't dealt with before. Besides, she still had adrenaline coursing through her body at the moment, so she was good for now. Tomorrow morning would be a different story.
At his words, Rebecca tilting her head to the side. He would be far too easy to kill right now... It was almost a shame really. She enjoyed some sort of resistance, just because she liked to earn her victories. This wouldn't count as a win for her at all, and she'd probably just look at it as a mercy kill. And then there was her curiosity over why the vampire was being beaten up in the first place.
A thought entered her mind then, one she was prone to act upon. "Easy isn't my thing," she responded simply. Coming to stand next to the vampire, she grabbed him by his hair and tilted his head back as far as it would go against the wall.
"Stay put," she ordered, pushing his upper lip out of the way so she could see his teeth. Without providing much time for action, Rebecca used the hilt of her gun to knock out his fangs in quick succession.

Miles

Miles narrowed his eyes as the hunter started walking over to him. He tried to move away from her, but it was a pitifully futile effort. Before he could act, she grabbed him. He bared his fangs and tried to take a bite out of her arm to get her to let go, not liking where this was going, but it didn't do him any good. The butt of the gun came down and pain exploded in his face as his fangs broke free of their base.

"Arg! Jesus Christ!" he yelled, buckling and holding his mouth with his hands. He could taste blood, cold and bitter as all vampire blood was. His first instinct said to retaliate and try to fight her off, but what was the point in that? He couldn't very well defend himself without his fangs, and of course he was still injured. What was he going to do now? He was totally screwed. He couldn't feed like this, and he couldn't fight in any meaningful way. In one move she'd totally crippled him.

He spat some blood onto the ground.
"I hope you're happy with yourself, you bitch. It would have been more merciful just to kill me," he snarled, trying to stand so he could get away from her. He had to get out of here before she did something crazy. Well, crazier.

Rebecca completely ignored the outcry of the vampire, as well as everything else. Once the fangs had been dislodged, she quickly pocketed them. There was no way he was getting those back just yet. She wasn't stupid, and understood that, though vampires had a great many assets about themselves, their fangs were their primary weapon. Without those, it diminished the threat. At least, it did for Rebecca.
Nodding her head along with his words, she didn't even show any signs of real empathy towards what she had done to him. He could call her whatever he wanted to, and that was just fine. She had a plan to go with right now, and as long as he minded, he could use whatever malicious names he could think of to describe her - it wouldn't bother her in the slightest.
"Yes, well... I'm the bitch who has your fangs," she commented with a small shrug, patting the zipped pocket of her jacket where she had put them. Would it have been more merciful to kill him? Probably... But, again, curiosity got the better of her.

Reaching out, Red grabbed his arm. Her grasp was not in any way tight or demanding, simply a loose hold to hopefully keep him from going anywhere just yet. She sighed quietly then, watching him for a moment before saying anything.
"I assume you want your fangs back, yeah?" Of course he did. "And since I was the one who removed them, I feel responsible for you now. So, if you want to possibly get your fangs back, as well as get your wounds taken care of, you should definitely come with me." There was no form of sweet-talking or malice in her words; in fact, she was completely blunt in her way of speaking. She wasn't trying to convince him, she was just stating an idea that she expected him to go along with. Even the hunter's expression was one of complete neutrality.

Miles

Miles was seething at this point. This was not how he'd wanted this night to go. Getting beat up, he could handle, but having a hunter hold this kind of power over him by stealing his fangs? This was a new low for him. He would have rather she killed him, but obviously that wasn't what was going to happen. He shied away, when she grabbed him, wondering if she changed her mind, but instead she did the last thing he'd been expecting: she offered him a deal.

"I don't need your pity," he said, yanking his arm away from her.
But I do need my fangs.
He paused a moment, assessing her.
"And why would you ever give me my fangs back? And how do you know I won't just attack you from behind and kill you to get them back?" he asked.

This was a very strange move for a hunter. He'd never seen a hunter make a powerplay on a vampire like this before. Most of them had no mercy, and the certainly didn't imply that they were going to help anyone. He had to admit he was curious about this hunter's unusual style of doing things. While he didn't want to, it was making him seriously consider going with her, plus the thing with the fangs of course.

When the vampire yanked his arm from her grasp, Rebecca didn't object and simply let her hand come back to rest at her side. She knew that it was a ridiculous sort of offer, one that had probably never been imposed upon a vampire by a hunter before, but that didn't really mean much to her. Going against the flow of things tended to yield interesting results, and she was feeling a little bored lately. His words brought a quiet scoff out of her - this wasn't pity. This was simply Rebecca stating a deal that could prove quite entertaining for herself, as well as giving her the benefit of possible new information. Vampires as a race were not at all difficult to understand, but as individuals they could prove to be quite different and varied from vampire to vampire - much like humans.
Rebecca shrugged her shoulders, making an 'I don't know' sound as she watched him. Would she give him his fangs back? Maybe... If things took a turn for the worst, she might give him his fangs back just to she could kill him in a fair fight, it just depended on what she felt like doing at the time. This was all very impulsive, actually, but what did it matter?
"I might and I might not. And I don't know that you won't attack me from behind, but if you were smart at all you would know that would be a bad idea," she answered simply. Attacking her from behind would be convenient for him, but she still viewed it as a poor decision.
"I'm just curious as to why a vampire was being bullied by his own kind like that... Besides, I'm basically giving you a place to hide from those vampires. You should be grateful." Now her tone sounded a little miffed, as if she was insulted that he was fighting against her ever-so-gracious offer of refuge.

Hmm. She had a point. He'd die before he got his fangs back by force. She wouldn't even hesitate to put a bullet in him, and she didn't seem like the person who would miss if she was under pressure. That was a shame. He liked hunters like that. They were easy to outwit. Not this one.
"Humans bully their own kind all the time. You don't see me poking around in their business," he said. Or knocking their teeth out for that matter.
After a brief pause he finally admitted to himself that he had no other option but to do what the hunter wanted, and hopefully she'd find it in her dark little heart the mercy to give him his fangs back and let him go eventually. Until then he'd just have to play nice. Well, nice as in not attacking her physically. He was going to give her as much crap about this as he pleased.
"Fine," he said.
But if this is a trap, so help me God I'll snap your pretty, little neck.
Bracing himself against the wall, he stood up fully, grimacing slightly as his wounds stretched with his body, sending stabs of subtle pain through his body. He was going to be sore in the morning, that was for sure. While they didn't take as long to heal as blessed knife or wooden bullet or stake wounds, vampire bites did carry their own annoying sting.

Rebecca didn't comment on the human bullies comment. She wasn't one of those justice warriors to go out and find bullies and beat them down, but should she stumble upon them - like she did this night - Rebecca would undoubtedly put a stop to it. Honestly, she didn't see the point to bullying... What did it gain ? But this was besides the point. The bullying was over with, and now her focus was on this vampire. She had decided that he would be a sort of experiment subject which she would observe. How well could a vampire actually survive without his fangs? It was certainly possible, but just how difficult would things be for them? It was a curious question, and she had never heard of a hunter doing such a thing before, so it would be an unprecedented observation. Why had she thought of this? Rebecca had no clue - again, it was an impulse, and she was likely to go along with it for now.
When the vampire agreed, Rebecca smiled wide and nodded her head. Turning around, she walked off a few steps before again turning to look at the vampire. She watched him as he attempted to get up, and she wondered if perhaps she should offer to help him... Nah, he'd be fine. The walk home might be a little slow with him injured like that, but Rebecca didn't mind the idea. Narrowing her eyes then, Rebecca inclined her head to the side.
"I'm glad you've agreed, vampire," she commented with a nod of her head, turning around again and starting to walk.

Miles

Miles followed Rebecca, hating every second he had to do this. He glowered at her back and tried to keep up a decent pace even though his body protested heavily. He reminded himself he'd had worse than this before. As he walked he touched his tongue gingerly to the gaps where his fangs had been. Instead of teeth, now there were just bloody gaps consisting only of tender flesh. It felt so wrong. He'd never had a tooth knocked out before, even as a human, and some human instinct was telling him that he should be freaking out and looking at getting a replacement. It was a novel feeling, really. Human thoughts and feelings were hard to come by these days. There was no sense of mortality or consequence to most of his actions. It was a feeling he almost missed.

"It's Miles," he said when Rebecca spoke again, "If you're going to hold me hostage at least have the decency to call me by my name. Unless you want me to call you 'human."
He would happily oblige. He was already calling her "future dinner" in his mind.

Rebecca knew he was angry with her - it was a perfectly validated feeling to have and she didn't blame him for it at all. But she didn't care, she really didn't. If he wanted to be mad at her, then he could, but it didn't really have any sort of influence on her own mood. The fact that she was going to get to have the fun of watching a vampire try to survive without its fangs was intriguing, and really that was good enough for her. Perhaps it was cruel to do this, like taking off the legs of a spider and watch it attempt to fight on for its life, but Rebecca was a hunter who could occasionally be quite ruthless when she wanted to be. It wasn't like she had chopped off his legs, and it wasn't like he couldn't still consume blood, it would just be more difficult for him. And since she was around, Rebecca wasn't going to let him starve or anything either.

Glancing over her shoulder when the vampire spoke again, she nodded her head. "Mhm, okay, Miles," she responded. If he wanted to call her 'human', then she had no quarrels with it. But she wouldn't say she was holding him hostage, perhaps his fangs, but not him. Miles didn't necessarily have to go with her, but it would be in his best interest to do so. He was going with her of his own free will to get his fangs back. Was that really taking a hostage? She didn't think so.
"My name's Rebecca. You can call me that, Bec, or whatever insults might be running through your vampire mind," she went on to say, placing her gun in its holster and adjusting her jacket over it. With her arms free, she let them swing back and forth a little bit.
"Please don't be so grumpy. I mean, it's not like I'm going to lock you in a basement or anything." Though his current mood meant little to her in the long run, Rebecca really wasn't going to make him sleep in the basement or anything. Instead, there was a guest room he could use. It wouldn't be a good enough observation if she treated him like a prisoner.

Miles

Well, that was easier than he expected. He didn't expect a hunter to actually agree to calling the thing she hunted by its name. He supposed since she agreed to call him "Miles" he would have to agree to call her "Rebecca." Since they were probably going to be in close proximity to each other for a while, he guessed they had to be somewhat civil. As civil as one could get with their prey anyway.

"Excuse me if I'm not very enthusiastic about having my teeth knocked out after getting the beating of my life," he said, "You might as well lock me in a basement. If I don't come with you, I'm going to be defenseless and unable to hunt for myself."
Even if she hadn't physically taken him prisoner, that was still was she had done. It was his choice whether or not he wanted to follow her, but that choice was really an illusion. They both knew he couldn't do anything without his fangs at his disposal, so he had no choice but to come with her and play nice if he wanted them back. It was a pretty basic concept, one he was sure the hunter understood one way or another. They were crafty that way.

"So where exactly are we going?" he asked.
Even if he had to follow her, that didn't mean he was going to let himself be duped. He wanted to know exactly what she was planning so he'd be ready if something changed suddenly. He wasn't going to be left in the dark if he could help it.

Rebecca didn't bother herself too much with things like names or labels - as they were all very superficial to her. Just a means to identification. Without a name, no one would really know what to call you, and so it just made thriving in a community easier. She liked her name quite a bit, as much as anyone might like their name, and didn't mind to call the vampire by his. If that is what he referred to himself as, then she would address him as such. Using his name or not didn't really have any influence upon her reasoning for this whole thing anyway.

"Yeah, I know," she answered simply. Locking him in a basement wouldn't do at all. Although being put in the presence of a hunter continuously wasn't exactly a normal atmosphere for a vampire, it was definitely more normal than being locked away in a basement. And if Miles wasn't allowed access to the world outside, then she couldn't possibly conduct a thorough experimentation on how a vampire might survive without his fangs. "But that wouldn't suit my purpose in any way," she added with a slight shrug of her shoulders. Would she tell him what her purpose was? Would she reveal to him that she was viewing this whole thing as a sort of game, an experiment? Nah, then he might act differently. It was best to just kind of leave him in the dark, giving only vague answers and things like that. Rebecca could do that. She was good at stuff like that.

At the question of their destination, Rebecca looked over at Miles. There wasn't any other place to go, and seeing as how hunting would be out of the question for the night due to having a vampire with her now, Rebecca figured that they might as well go back to her house.
"Home," she replied, looking back ahead. Glancing up at the sky, she contemplated the stars for a moment before turning her focus back onto the sidewalk ahead. Her home was set back a bit from the main part of town, but seeing as how they weren't in the main strip anyway, the destination was only a few minutes away.
"Do you have a home, Miles?" She asked, nearly calling him 'vampire' again. That would take some getting used to, she supposed. "Or do you just kind of wander?" Knowing a bit about the previous mannerisms of the vampire could help her have a foresight into how this experimental game might start out

Miles

Miles raised an eyebrow when Rebecca mentioned her purpose. What kind of "purpose" did she have that didn't involve killing or imprisoning him? Keeping him as some kind of vampire servant? Completing a bounty for another hunter? He wasn't sure he wanted to know. Every option he thought of sounded pretty horrible. Maybe if he was lucky, her purpose would be something nice like trying to rehabilitate him and get him off human blood. He'd never heard of a hunter doing that, but he could dream, right?

Wait, was she actually going to take him to her home? That seemed like a pretty stupid move to him. After all, he knew where she lived now. But he wasn't going to say anything. Perhaps there was a method to her madness. He made an "I don't know" noise in the back of his throat wen she asked him if he had a home.
"I do live somewhere if that's what you mean," he said.

He hadn't had a home since the war. Nevada with his family was where his home had been, but ever since he was turned he knew he couldn't go back to that life. The coven in Hawaii had been his home for a while, but after a while he couldn't stand being in one place so long. He felt restless then, and he felt restless now. He worked jobs, stole things, moved around from apartment to apartment in cities all over the US. He'd seen history unfold and as time went on he knew he was never going to have a home again. He would always have houses, but the thought of having a home again seemed to good for the likes of him.

Rebecca made a quiet humming sound under her breath, as though thinking over a thought or an idea. She didn't seem to voice this out loud, however, instead brushing it away with a dismissive look he couldn't see. If the vampire had a home - or just a place to stay - it was best for him to not worry about the place anymore. She didn't really feel like allowing him to go back and gather any of the items he might want for himself... At least not tonight. He would need things like clothes at some point, but Rebecca didn't plan on worrying about it tonight. That was a concern for another time, like maybe tomorrow. But not now. She was too busy thinking over what to do with her impulsive plan.

"It's best if you forget about wherever you're staying. I'll let you go back and get some clothes... later... But for now you get to stay with me. It'll make it easier for me to watch you," she said. "And I'm sure you'll want to keep an eye on me as well, since I do have your livelihood in my coat pocket," she added, patting the pocket of her jacket where his fangs were currently kept. Rebecca wondered vaguely to herself if she would just let the vampire, Miles, go after she was done with her experimentation. Would she really just give him his fangs back and let him go back out into the world? It didn't seem likely for her... Perhaps she would just give him his fangs back, let him think that she was letting him go, and then kill him. She wasn't sure how long she would want to keep the experiment up, but she figured she'd be done with it once it started to bore her. How long that would take, depends on how well the vampire does with surviving without his fangs.

Looking up, Rebecca caught sight of her house and nodded her head slightly, as though to herself. "Well Miles, it looks like I'm home. I hope you find the house to your liking." The words had the faintest amount of sarcasm to them, betraying the fact that she was indifferent towards whether or not he liked the place. The house wasn't too big, but wasn't shanty and small either. It had two stories, and was pretty well-kept looking from the outside. The inside of the house was much the same.

Miles

Miles started to say something snarky and echo what she'd said earlier about him "coming with her out of her own free will" and he could just leave and go home if he wanted to, but he didn't. Yet again she had a point. If he didn't keep an eye on her she could easily just toss his fangs somewhere where he'd never get them back. He was starting to get extra pissed just because she seemed to enjoy this. She'd acted blunt and innocent before but now she was letting the facade drop a bit. She totally knew what she was doing, and it disgusted him.

He looked up the street at they approached her house. He caught the sarcasm in her voice and narrowed his eyes. Two could play at that game.
"Actually, I'm not sure it will. Really, the color is awful and your lawn needs some serious work," he said, "Also, frankly, you really should get something to spruce the place up a bit. Maybe a nice little vampire lawn gnome with a stake in its heart. That'll show people you really mean business."

Really, there wasn't anything wrong with her house. In fact it looked much nicer than his dingy apartment and would probably prove more pleasant to stay in if he ignored the fact that he was staying there with a human who could kill him easily if she wanted to. However, he wasn't going to let a little technicality like that prevent him from making this whole situation as unpleasant as possible for her. If he could annoy her without provoking her to do something rash, he'd be at least a little satisfied that she wasn't getting away from this scott free.

Rebecca was by no means offended by the words spoken by the vampire. Instead, as if to turn it right back around, she nodded her head along and hummed thoughtfully under her breath. Her gaze moved from the color of the house - a grayish blue color - down to the lawn. Her gaze suggest that perhaps she was surveying, like she was honestly taking into consideration what Miles was saying, and seeing for herself if there was any form of revamping that could possibly be done to her home in order to make it better.
"Yes, yes, good point. Perhaps a new coat of paint would be a good idea..." She didn't have the time to do anything of the sort, nor did she honestly care to. As far as the lawn went, she actually hired somebody as it was to do what little mowing there was. She obviously didn't have the time, and actually Rebecca completely loathed the task anyway.

At the mention of a vampire garden gnome, Rebecca looked up at Miles, eyebrows raised in something like surprise. "Do they actually sell those?" She asked. If she could honestly find a vampire garden gnome with stake through his little gnome heart, then Rebecca might actually invest in one of those things.
"I know what's going on my wishlist," she added as a final comment before walking up to the door and unlocking it from a key she had retrieved from her pants pocket. Opening the door, she motioned for Miles to step in.

Miles

Miles had no idea how to react to that. He wanted to tell her that he was being sarcastic and ask her what exactly her sense of humor was since she seemed to be able to use some sarcasm but not understand it, and while they were at it, what hunter took landscaping tips from vampires they captured? Or from anyone? Seriously, what? Mostly this just got condensed down at an incredulous look and a,
"Are you serious?"
Damn, if she stays this clueless getting away from her is going to be easier than I thought.

Whatever. When she opened the door and motioned for him to go inside, he hesitated. He knew it was kind of irrational since killing him or springing some awful trap on him now wouldn't make much sense, but he still felt as if that exact thing was going to happen. No choice but to try it though. Reluctantly he walked into the house and was relieved when no weird, paranoid booby traps were sprung.
"You always keep it this dark in here?" he asked, "I thought humans were supposed to like light."

He actually didn't mind how dimly lit the house was. With his keen vision he could see fine in the dark, and frankly he wasn't a big fan of bright lights anyhow. Which reminded him. Wherever she put him, he hoped she didn't put him somewhere that got really sunny during the day. No need to add insult to injury. Sunlight could seriously go die.
