Gaurding The Crown (1x1 TheSpaceInBetween and Red;) Empty miss princess

Aiko Baskerville - the Princess

Everyday was the same for the most part - Aiko got out of bed, showered and dressed, had a light breakfast, and then was practically free to spend the rest of the day doing whatever she wished. As a princess, unless there were foreign matters to attend to that needed her attention, she was mostly just an accessory for her family's arm, something to be married off eventually in order to create better ties with a neighboring kingdom. It was all rather drab, and she found no amusement in it whatsoever. Over the her life, she had taken much to learning how to play the piano or drawing, using these outlets to quell her growing boredom. There was never any fun in just sitting around drinking tea or discussing politics. As a child, Ai had been subjected to the best education anyone could get, but now that she was twenty years old -- soon to be twenty-one -- there was no longer a call for education. Now, if she wanted to learn something, Aiko would seek the knowledge of the books in the library. The library, speaking of which, was one of her favorite places to go within the castle. It was large and quiet, with hardly anyone coming in or out of it. The giant library was, sadly, terribly underused. But Ai fixed that. She enjoyed slipping away from anyone and everyone (including her bodyguard) and hiding away within the quiet of the library. There she could be alone with no one other than the books. Ai could remember being a child and how her father or mother would scold her for running off to the library and hiding there, but she never learned. Today, however, she wasn't in the mood for reading. Her thoughts were running far too quickly for her to concentrate on a book. She was aware of the oncoming execution, which happened to take place around her birthday, and she couldn't say she agreed with it. Killing someone just wasn't the way to spend a birthday at all.
Instead, she sought solace in the large garden behind the castle. This garden was huge, like a maze of sorts, flowering with so many fragrant plants. She liked the roses, especially the osiria rose - it's slash of red and white intriguing to her. So it was here that the princess walked to, hoping to avoid as many people as she could.

Arturo had been awake for a long while, he had managed about 6 hours sleep but as requested he had to be on call all the time just in case something happened to Aiko. This week was the week that he had been dreading since the princess first turned twenty as he knew soon he would either die or be forced to spend the rest of his life in the castle. Serving the King as he commanded.

He ate slowly and began the menial tasks of his morning routine, checking every inch of the castle. Making sure that food wasn't poised, inspecting the incoming and outgoing mail incase of any plots to cause harm to the princess. It had only really happened a few times but Arturo was always there for her.

Arturo had gotten used to the princess slipping away from him to go and hide in the library or in the vast gardens that she loved so much. He walked slowly pausing at the top of the gardens his head tilting to pick out the faintest sounds in the gardens. He could hear running footsteps, rapid footsteps and a scent that was unrecognisable.

Arturo sped down the garden's weaving past the many gardeners that were tending to plants. His eyes quickly caught sight of the suspect and Aiko a few meteres ahead. Growling deeply he dove at the would be assassin as he drew his blade, the pair landed hard on the ground and they wrestled on the floor for a good few minutes the assassin drawing knife and stabbing Arturo in the side as an attempt to get him off. Of course with Arturo strength pain was hardly noticeable especially by a non-silver blade. Hands swiftly gripped the assassin's neck and with the slightest bit of pressure. Snap! Like a piece of straw.

Arturo panted a little pulling himself up to a standing position bowing the top of his body gracefully " I know you may be twenty one Miss Baskerville. I'd appreciate if you didn't wander off. if I wasn't here a second to late you would be on the floor instead of him" He scolded her a little but mentally kicked himself " I'm sorry miss, I should have seeked you out sooner and you would have been a lot safer" he added his hand pressing against the wounds to his side.

Gaurding The Crown (1x1 TheSpaceInBetween and Red;) Empty Nothing Abnormal in the Garden

Aiko Baskerville - the Princess

Frankly, Aiko resented her role as princess. This wasn't to say that she wished she was a peasant who hardly made it by in this life, but she would have liked to be born an aristocrat, someone of a lesser rank than a princess. She wondered if the children of dukes and duchesses were treated how she was. Were they suffocated by these safety measures? Were they continuously being assaulted by people who wanted them dead, or being approached by other diplomats who engaged her in worthless conversation? She wasn't sure, but she would ask the next time she had the chance. And there was indeed thoughts of the upcoming birthday, wondering what she should do about it. It was all so... agitating.
These were the reason that she didn't notice the oncoming assailant, too lost in her own mind to be paying attention to the world around her. But when her every trustful bodyguard came in to save her, Ai stepped back and watched the fight go on, which eventually led to the death of the assassin.
Arching an eyebrow slightly, she smirked vaguely.

"My name is Ai," she responded. "And I'm not twenty-one. Not yet." She'd known Arturo for quite a long time, so she felt no need in continuously being called 'Miss Baskerville'. She was called that all the time by everyone anyway, save for her mother and father that it. Aiko talked frequently with her mother, but not so often with her father. He was busy, and her mother was too, but not nearly as much as the king.
Looking at her bodyguard's side, Ai remembered the stab he had been delivered by the now-dead assassin, wondering if he should perhaps just go get that checked out. He wasn't human, but it would give her some extra time away from everyone else. And she wondered who would be in charge of disposing of the assassin's body this time. By now, a few gardeners had run over to assess the scene, gasping in surprise at the sight of a dead body.
"And you should probably get your side checked out," Ai added with a shrug of her shoulders, glancing once more at the dead body before turning away and starting the walk back the way she had come. Blood had ruined her little garden walk, but she didn't mind.
"Thank you, Arturo," she said over her shoulder. Countless times he had saved her life, and countless times she had thanked him for doing so. It was true that, had he not been around, there was quite the possibility that she would be dead now. Aiko owed him her life by all manner of speaking, and now it seemed she was holding his own in her hands. Now she just had to decide what to do with it.
