MAXIMUS
GOODWILL

______________________

Max sighed and smashed his lit cigarette against the brick wall behind him, snubbing the light out. He stretched and cracked a few joints in his arms as he did so. "Back off, boys. Give me some space to breathe, yeah?" He said this to his "gang", you could call it. They always did crowd around him and it was frankly extremely annoying. But, Max couldn't blame them, really. They were on edge for tonight, even though it had happened a hundred times before. "You're going to beat Wilder in the race tonight, right? Because, you know, you did lose last week," one member spoke up, his arms folded across his chest and a grimace spread over his face. Max cast an icy glare at him before turning around to face him as he stuffed his lighter in his jacket pocket. "Unless you want to take my helmet and race against Wilder tonight, I suggest you keep your smartass mouth shut." Shortly after, the gang were walking over the pavements that were lit by the faint glow of street lights and cigarettes. Maximus sighed as he glanced around, his helmet under his arm. These streets were always bare on these nights. The people of the city were smart enough to not go wandering when there were two rival gangs about. It was cold and dark out, and a leather jacket didn't exactly keep you warm. His breath turned into wisps of mist as he walked and drew his jacket closer to his chest.
"It's so isolated here, where the Hell is Wilder?" Goodwill cursed harshly to himself, although the entire gang was listening. A few nodded in approval but Max just scoffed. But, before an outrage could break out, the gangs saw them in the distance, along with the vehicles they'd be racing with. Max huffed and polished his helmet with his arm, inspecting it closely. It was weird not knowing what his sworn enemy actually looked like. I mean, people had tried to explain his looks to him but it didn't really work. Everyone always told him how attractive Wilder was, but he wasn't going to give into that.
Both gangs were crowding around their leader and acting threatening, but they weren't going to fight if Max had any say in it. This helmet was pretty uncomfortable and hard to breathe in, but he'd had an accident when he didn't wear a helmet and it was awfully painful. He tugged at his jacket, itching for a second cigarette as he walked toward his vehicle. "Wilder," Maximus huffed in acknowledgement, inspecting his vehicle closely, making sure the guy who drove it here didn't damage it. If he did, there would be absolute Hell to pay. He was most definitely going to win this time. He was not losing his turf to stupid Wilder again. What a prick, Goodwill thought as he side-glanced at his opponent, his arms crossed and his brow furrowed. He leaned on his vehicle, his large gang pooling behind him, just like Seamus' did with him. The tension was heavy and honestly, Max wanted to beat Seamus at this race already. Hopefully when they were evened out his gang would be less on edge about absolutely everything. "We gonna do this thing or what?"

Standing in an alleyway between a pizza parlor and a coffee shop,
Seamus propped himself up against the brick, watching as one of his
"goons" sat quietly on the ground and paced around the alleyway.
"Can you guys stop lurking? Its not for hours." Seamus scolded, furrowing his brows and turning his head to look behind him. Arms folded over his chest, Seamus let out a heavy sigh. "You guys need to get girlfriends or something. Once you guys finish smoking your flaming sticks of death we're going to the auto-shop to meet Bill. Please don't be antsy when we get there." After a moment of silence, someone changed the subject. "You gonna beat Goodwill to a pummel like last time?" Goodwill. The name made Seamus cringe. He had yet to see the guy without his helmet and yet the thought o  his face angered Seamus. Everything was cool until he came in took over his side of town. It had gotten to violent that both sides started vandalizing each other. And honestly, there wasn't much one could do about it.

"Wilder!" A middle-aged man shouted, wiping oil on his jumpsuit. "Here to help me?"  Seamus shrugged. "I need to get these guys to pass time some how." Rolling his eyes slightly, he walked up to the vehicle with its hood up. "Oh yeah, the race. You nervous?" Bill questioned. "No, never am. What all did you do to this baby?" Seamus grinned, leaning over the engine. "Just some tuning up, and we touched up the paint on yours. You sure know how to scuff it." Bill laughed. "Don't blame me, blame Goodwill's goonies. They keyed my car." Generally he would be outraged about this, but he practically asked for it. An overly annoying male Seamus payed for surfing lessons. "Ayyye Seamus!" He called out as he polished some trophy. "Aye no. Sal remember no more than fifty feat." He lifted his hands to cancel his crew's attack on "Sal".

After finishing up at the body shop, Seamus and his crew hopped in the cars and drove to their locations. He was running late by a few minutes, but every second counted. His helmet was on tight and his jacket was zipped up, and the rumble of the engine as they approached Goodwill was satisfying; it was the perfect drive. Finally slowing to a stop and hopping out of the car quickly, he rested his body against his car that was parked next to Max's car. "Goodwill." He mocked. The brisk air hitting his breath and turning it into a thin fog that dissipated in the blink of an eye. His arms folded over his chest, containing body heat. As Max inspected the car, Seamus rolled his eyes (even though no one could tell) and stood up, opening his car door and sitting down in the firm leather seats that were like new, and on a hot day, you could still smell the "new car" smell. (which took a lot of work to keep)His window rolled down, Seamus nodded slughtly as Maximus asked if they were starting yet. A guy from Seamus' side of town stood between the cars, holding a flag. "Ready

Maximus revved his engine, his hands gripped tightly on his wheel as he sharply inhaled. He could hear both gangs raging at each other, but they most definitely weren't going to touch each other. That'd defeat the purpose. As the word "go!" was cried out, both cars sped off, leaving almost everyone in a cloud of dust and smoke. His focus was entirely on this race now, and he had to win if he didn't want his gang to be on-edge again. He felt the vibration of the engines humming under his feet and on his fingertips. The glow of streetlights and lit-up motel rooms were daunting distractions but not ones Max were going to give into. He'd done this a thousand times. Last time he'd almost lost his cool, though. But this time, he'd win. Max would win and he was completely convinced about it. That is, until, he made a bit of a wrong turn. His wheels skidded to the left, and Max was lucky his entire car didn't slam into the tower of metal drums stacked nearby. "God dammit!" he hissed as he stomped on the pedal once more, his wheels winding in circles and finally speeding off again - but far too behind Wilder. He was going to lose, wasn't he? There was no way that Max was going to win this race after a stupid move like that. A few more seconds passed and his suspicions were proved correct. Wilder had passed the finish line, and Goodwill moments after. A loud growl rose up in his throat and his car skidded to a halt. He hit the wheel with the palm of his hand in rage. Max exited the car, tore off his helmet and immediately lit a cigarette as he scowled at Wilder.
A few of the gang members were bewildered because of course, Seamus had never seen what Max actually looked like, but Max was too angered to care right now. His tired must have been messed with right? Someone messed with his tires, that turning accident didn't happen for nothing, he thought quickly and flicked the cigarette ashes to the ide of the road bitterly. "Good race, Wilder," he cursed under his breath, looking up at his gang members with a dark expression. None of them were daring to say a word - although Wilder's gang seemed to be celebrating freely. Two times in a row? That was just unbelievable. Embarrassing, really. Max sucked his cigarette and huffed the smoke out, angrily sitting on the hood of his car, surrounded by his silent members and glaring right at Seamus. He wasn't usually a sore loser, but this didn't feel like a coincidence. Really, it most likely was, but at this point, Maximus was knee-deep in denial about losing twice in a row. It was then Max realised that there was no helmet on his head, and that he now knew why many people were staring. His face flushed a shade of pink and he turned his head, although it was far, far too late.

Revving his engine as Max did, Seamus kept his eyes dead set on the tattered checkered flag waving in the faint breeze. The anticipation of starting ahead ran through his mind. His heart beat sped up and his finger tips wiggles as they tingled. "Go!" was shouted, and immediately Seamus slammed his foot on the gas, the wheels straining to push the two forward for a split second before they sped off, leaving dark skid-marks on the road. Seamus, just slightly ahead of Maximus, kept his eyes on the road and tuned everything out. The sound of the engines was like music to his ears, and the vibration that ran through his fingers and toes was satisfying; he could swerve around town every day, and never get tired of it. It made Seamus feel alive. Although Seamus hadn't always felt this way; in his younger years, Seamus was afraid of motorcycles, cars, planes, and helecopters. He got over his fears in his early teens though; obviously. The street lights illuminated the road as he sped forward, the white dashes that separated the road formed into one. Seamus was confident he'd win, but Maximus was definitely a great opponent. He had been beat by the male a couple times, just as Maximus had been beat by Seamus. It was a game of not only skill, but chance, too. He furrowed his brows and strengthened his grip on the steering wheel, suddenly twisting it in a different ways that he turned a rather sharp corner  with ease. Drifting for a moment before getting pulled back on track, Seamus noticed his "friend" having issues and falling far behind. He let out a happy and mocking chuckle as the finish line came into view. "Not today, Goodwill!" He twisted his wheel again and drifted over the finish; sliding to one side until he slowed to a stop. Twisting the key and pulling it out, Seamus pushed the door open; glancing at his buddies who seemed overjoyed they won again. Maximus was now outside of his car and propping himself on the hood. Just as the dark haired male turned to look at Maximus, he realized his helmet was off;he was.. actually quite attractive, and for from what Seamus imagined. It grew silent as all eyes fell on Maximus who was practically pouting on the hood. This whole thing was mainly decided to be anonymous, no faces. But that rule seems broken now. Did this mean Seamus took his off now? Probably not, since Maximus suddenly turned bright red and tried to hid his face. "Too late, cutie." He mocked, placing his hand on his hip. After getting a slight reaction from Max, Seamus reched both hands up and pulled the helmet off of his head. He tossed the helmet to a buddy and leaned over, messing with his hair before ruffling it and standing straight. "Better luck next time, Goodwill." And with that, Seamus flashed him a playful grin before returning back to his group.

MAXIMUS
GOODWILL

______________________

Max wasn't feeling any calmer, and when Seamus took off his helmet, his emotions were really all over the place. Wow, okay, he wasn't supposed to be attractive. Wilder was supposed to be ugly with scars and tattoos and everything. Not.. actually good-looking. Max glared at him nonetheless, still outraged enough to go at Wilder. That asshole was still dragging it on, huh? Maximus' eyebrows shot up when he was called "cutie". Both in surprise and anger because of how God damn belittling the comment was. The entire gang looked at their leader, as if expecting him to do something. And, well, they weren't wrong to do so. As soon as Seamus gave Max a cocky grin, the Goodwill boy stood and stomped over to his opponent's vehicle, twirling his keys between his fingers before dragging it across the body of Wilder's car.
Of course, this caused outrage (why wouldn't it?) but Max's gang were good at him not getting beaten to death by a group of Wilder's angry thugs. While the two groups raged at each other, Max inspected his handiwork. The scratch was from the bottom to the top, and Goodwill was quite proud of himself. This was probably the most personal night - first, they showed their faces and now Max was purposely keying Wilder's car. "Oh, whoops," he shrugged, stuffing his keys in his pocket and smirking. This had definitely made the feud between the two even tenser. He stood between two of his gang members with a still-cocky expression as he looked at Wilder, waiting for him to do something.
Why was he doing this? Pent-up anger was his best guess. It was going to kick off soon enough and it just happened earlier than expected. The more Max thought about what he had just done, the more he realised it was probably a really bad move. The two gangs were going to be fighting alot more now and it was mostly Max's fault. Okay, entirely Max's fault, but if Wilder had just held his tongue and left, this wouldn't have happened. He was going to be too stubborn to make amends, but he supposed he could if he had too.
